Very nice skeletons. Just an observation though, certainly in actual ancient Egypt they didn't have iron, and I think that this has carried forward to the Warhammer Khemri. So perhaps they would look better with the metalwork all painted in bronze or copper?
That is certainly true for Egypt.
I will give a try to bronze or copper and keep what looks better.
Thx for the advice.

Well you've already effectively done it with the other metallic details, just not the spear points...

Just tried. In bronze the metal does not stand out since the spear wood is brown. Same problem with copper. All in all, the overall effect is better with silver.

Try white wood then, sun-bleached and all that...

I love thoseshield conversions!  They do make the figures more Khemri looking.  Keep up the good work!

Painting of test unit done:

I'll add some dead-grass when I've bough it.

What do you think about it?

That's a great looking unit, it's exactly what I had in mind for what I wanted to do.

So that being said, did you shave away the shields when replacing themw ith the round shields? It looks like you left the coffin-lid style shields in, but shaved off the wooden planks that lay across horizontally.
How'd you go about removing the Scythes as well? If I recall correctly, at least one of the Scythes is pretty intertwined with other spears I think.

You are right about the coffin-lid style shields. I've also rounded their corners. This is fine for most of them. 1 or 2 are pretty visible though, and for those one I'll glue a thin plasticard with the same shape as the other replaced shields. That will look a bit better.

About the scythes, well I cut everything right above the skeleton hand, and removed the connected spear the same when obliged to.
Then I drilled the hands and inserted a metal rod to have a brown new spear instead. I did the same with the polearms.

Very nice by the way, do you plan on converting or scratch building any other units? There are quite a few that are missing from the Warmaster range that are now in the Warhammer range...

I will start building a playable 2k army with all shields/arms converted (heros, spearmen, archers, chariots, cavalery).
Maybe later I will create more conversion-intensive missing units like the tomb guards.

Do you have any specific unit in mind by the way?

Ushabti strike me as the obviously difficuilt one. IIRC a Tomb Scorpion model did once exist as an alternate Bone Giant model...

Thanks for the knowledge Vincent. I have just started mine, with a bit of a different approach. I felt it might look odd with Plasticard over the shields (Different bulks, might be able to tell the difference from behind), and I couldn't shave down the shields enough to get it nice.
So my approach was, since the shields are round, just extend them with greenstuff downwards to look like the Khemri style shields. This also helps with the Coffin lids, as I think the thing that makes them stand out is the fact that the sides of the coffin lid angle inwards, rather than being straight.

Hey Vincent,

your stuff is delicious! Great job! I also love a lot the old egypt theme for undeads. I am really impressed with your outstanding conversion (well, for telling the truth I am very impressed with all the stuff you have uploaded),

nice to see your contributions,
