Looks nice. I used pinkfoam for mine and use a slightly different form.

I intentionally created a flat top, to allow stands to crest the Sand dune, or to be "hidden" when not on the flat top.

Natural dunes tend to be VERY steep on one side and have more gradual slop on the other side,  so mine have one side that troops can stand on, while the other is more like a "cliff".

Yep, that's what I saw in the Gobi Desert in Mongolia.  The side toward the wind has a gentle slope; the side away from the wind has a steep slope.

I also saw a black bird with a 6 foot (approx 2 meters) wingspan.  From a distance I thought it was a pony!  (I measured the wing marks in the sand that it left as it took to the air.  The marks were 6 feet apart, so the wingspan was probably bigger!).

I love the Dune!  Thanks for posting your process Vincent!  I want to make a desert table for Tomb Kings and a Chaos Waste themed board as well.

The paint jobs on the TK miniatures are just beautiful.

I ordered the White pumice (no shop is selling 2L ;) ) and I'm waiting for it.
Table building is planned sometime next month (need to do it as a friend house since mine it no big enough).
I'll update you. But I'm really confident. I've used the 60x60m mat and it looks very durable.

Where did you order ? and in what quantity ??  IF this really turns out as well as it is looking now we might want to talk with supplier.....  8)

What kind of cloth where you using for the test ?

Did you both fold and roll the testpiece ??

A local resseler of Vallejo.

What kind of cloth where you using for the test ?
A very cheap and thin fabric of an sheet for bed.

Did you both fold and roll the testpiece ??
I rolled it for 2 weeks. In unrolled easily and layed flat without problem.
I folded it VERY HARD several times in various places like 10 times, and the fold disapeared quickly without a mark.

So a simple linen sheet....   better and better

This is fascinating - Having a battlemat like this would be grand, for larger scale games as well.

For my Khemri table here is the list of terrains I'm thinking about.

3-4 unes counting-as hills

(plus texture ;) )

2-3 ruined temples counting-as forest or hard terrain:

Forest with columns plus ruined sphinx and ruined walls.
Hard terrain with low-level ruined walls.

1-2 quicksand zones counting-as lakes (impassable)

1 oasis en counting-as marsh

1 tent-village counting-as zone urban zone

Not so fluf, so I'm not sure about this one...

3-4 desert cliffs counting-as impassable terrain

Your idea?
