Break point for Lizardmen
« on: March 04, 2020, 06:57:36 AM »
Howdy

What would be an acceptable breakpoint in a Lizardmen army?

I've run through the army selector a few times and seem to come back with 10 which seems a bit low.

Models I have below. I have seen the Carnosaur suggested as a good option but not sure what I would drop to include it.

Slann
2 Skink heroes
2 Shaman
5 Skin's
2 Salamanders
5 Saurus
1 TGuard
2 Kroxigors
2 Terradon

Does that seem like a sound list?

I have an old chaos hound which looks suitably scaled to stand in for a stegadon which could prove a fun conversion project and will probably buy a GW or Eureka version as well just to paint. Probably only use them for large games if I ever play any.

Cold Ones. You definitely need Cold Ones!

Bollocks, missed them off. And 4 cold ones, 2GW, 2 Eureka.

one thing that I've only noticed today, DE cold ones have +1 attack to the front for the first round of combat, lizards don't. I guess this is because they come with 4 attacks native but seems a bit odd.

Never had a problem with that anomaly. Lizards being better riders of Cold Ones seems fluff-compliant. And, in terms of play balance, DEs have access to greater numbers of Cold Ones (3 per 1,000).

Just re-read your comment about Stegadon. Fighting 15s are selling off their old Eureka stock at discount, so you could get one cheap?

Yes, I might have to get a couple more units while they're still at Pendraken prices. I think I may have missed the Stegadon there but I'm headed over to NZ later this year so I might get a few bits set to the folks.

The chaos hound looks perfectly acceptable so I'll finish that off next week. There's a photo in the modelling thread.

Army completed. Around 2300 points worth so a few options there. I'll put up some unit shots over the next couple of weeks furlough.
