proxy ideas: Kislev
« on: February 08, 2018, 07:52:24 PM »
Have just purchased some TB Line Russians from Aster Wargames.  Really impressed with the quality of the minis.  Might be good as proxies for some of the Kislev troop types?

Hello empireaddict

Yes, I've been waiting patiently for Pendraken to start producing them again. I'm not sure if they sell their Polish winged hussars with separate wings but if they are the wings could be used on the TB Line Russians or Islam figures to make good proxies for Kislev knights. Apparently Pendraken will be doing a minor remodel and thinning down the lances, spears, etc.

Cheers

I bought some of the TB Line Russians off Aster a while back with the intention of using them as Kislev.
I reckon it will work out like this:
Russian heavy infantry TB4184 = Axemen
Russian peasants with bow TB4187 = archers
Russian heavy knights with lance TB4182 = knights (NB you may have to find wings for them elsewhere)
Mongol heavy cavalry with bow  TB4175 = horse archers
Russian light cavalry TB4183 = horse archers
Mongol heavy cavalry with bow TB4173 = cossacks
Mongol light cavalry with lance TB4174 = cossacks
I am not sure what the Warmaster Cossacks are "supposed" to look like (I don't recall that unit from the small amount of Warhammer material on Kislev) so the Mongols may be very approximate.

With the Landsknechte wrapping up, I thought a Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth army would be a good next project.

I recently purchased Polish Lancers (twin banners) from Pendraken.

They do not compare well with the GW minis which I would suggest are more 12mm then 10mm.

Maybe I’ll use them in units at the other side of the table so no one notices the scale difference.

Just a note to say that Pendraken is working on 10mm bears:-

Nice.

For the bear necessities of Warmaster.

One with a saddle I can understand, the GW originals had one with a bloke riding a bear. The armoured ones on the other hand...

Still, AFAIK there are no other 10mm bears out there so beggars can't be choosers.

Bend Sinister had some bears but it's a mystery on what has happened to their fantasy 10mm, the Napoleonics went to Baggage Train. The news from Pendraken are that there are some (mystery) riders being worked on as well

I suppose bears and a shaman will likely be added to the fantasy line as we near the end of the Polish-Lithuanians.

Just a heads up that Pendraken will be releasing some late 17th early 18th century hussars that could work in Kislev
