Tale of Warmaster Painters: January 2017
« on: January 17, 2017, 05:29:49 PM »
Hey, this hadn't been started yet and the month is half way through!

I can't let ToWP fall by the wayside, not after it has been so successful for is in encouraging the lead mountains to be fought (if not defeated)!

For myself - initially I thought i was going to get nothing done - but!  I've had a second wind and I've finished a Dark Elf Spearmen unit.  I have crossbows and more spearmen to do so will have a go at polishing them off.

What say the rest of you?

=)

Stormwind: Dark Elf Spearmen
EmpireAddict: Ogres & Minotaurs
Rowlybot: Halfings - perhaps Orcs
jChaos79: Trojan infantry
industrialtrousers: Pos. Wood Elves?

@Stormwind, good call!
Likely to be a slow month for me.  So I pledge a unit of Ogres and a couple of units of Minotaurs.
Stretch target: 2 units of converted Slaanesh Minotaurs.

I'll finish my single unit of butt ugly halflings that I have regretted buying.

A stretch goal might be a unit of orcs.

Here's the halfings that I've started. Did a little more work on the first group. But I'm really not liking these figures. It's going to be a drag to get them done, I can tell.

But I did manage to work on the orcs. These are the first orcs I've ever painted, regardless of scale. And I'm really happy with them. You'll have to excuse the glossiness, first layer of varnish is on so I don't chip them when I go to base them. A couple of errors that I'm now seeing from the photos so I'll fix those too.

looking good!

Are those halflings magister millitum? I like the poses and they are far much better than irregular, warrior or pendraken ones. Eureka have good halflings too.

About my progress I prime my trojan infantry in black.

They are. And if these are good looking figures, I'd hate to see bad looking ones. I really feel like I should have splashed a bit more cash and got the Eureka ones. I've seen EmpireAddict's halflings and they are a lot nicer.

Pendraken are as tall as a human. I cut the legs... so then they look like halflings. (you know GW dwarves are scultped also with no legs...)

Irregular ones are pinheads, but they have some look of hobbits.

Thanks. The head is from a wood elf dryad, the rest of it is just green stuff. You could more easily use 28mm dryads but I fancied making something. I'm going to make some smaller treekin, 2-3 per base and use as proxy dryads for Warmaster. Not sure what to do for heads yet though.

trojan warriors [entry] jchaos

The picture is not good as I took it with my old telephone.

Anyway the most interesting issue for me of this unit is that I did not painted it alone, it is a cooperative painting effort (such a effort... an patience)
