Hmmm...I have some FW Tau, and I don't really find 2010 FAQ Tau so much overpowered, but rather boring and unchallenging to play. Playing against Chaos or Imperial opponents is boring - turn 6+ prow towards enemy, shoot everything, reload ordnance, turn & shoot again etc. I think 90 degree turns for cruisers were a mistake. I'd play original FW Trial rules, but they have no options so it is so hard to make a list...

Boring? The FW Tau rules are boring as they just are the same as the SG Tau only with different models.

The 90* degree turns is the best idea for Protectors ever. Well... I introduced the first one into existence har har:

And if you can keep doing that against Imperial and Chaos fleets they are clearly making some mistakes. Because the moment you shoot like that you are prow on, food for Chaos gunnery for example.
And every torpedo marker is easy to thwart if shot from long range. 1 fghter is enough to take out a torpedo marker. And gunnery can aim for the Manta's if the ships are out of range.

ps what do you mean with the FW trial rules? The one published in IA3 The Taros Campaign? Those aren't trial but official. Or do you mean the Tau FW rules that were only for 1 week (made by the HA, asked to be removed by FW)?
