andys's 2015 output
« on: December 20, 2015, 04:48:30 PM »
No more painting for me for what is left of 2015 - I don't think SWMBO would appreciate me grafting away with hairy sticks over the holidays!  :(

It’s been a busy year for me. I’ve expanded 8 existing armies and started new Chaos Dwarf, Hobgoblin, Chaos and Vampire Count armies. I’ve bought and painted the following units/characters, figure source in brackets:

1 x Empire Knights (Games Workshop)
2 x Empire Halberdiers (GW)
2 x Empire Crossbowmen (GW)
1 x Empire Handgunners (GW)
2 x Empire Cannons (Kallistra/Pendraken)
5 x bases Empire Skirmishers (Pen)
1 x Helblaster (GW)

1 x Orcs (Kall/Pen)
2 x Goblins (GW-BOFA)
1 x Goblins (GW)
1 x Boar Riders (GW)
1 x Wolf Chariots (GW)
2 x Goblin Shamen (Magister Militum)

4 x Dwarf Warriors (Eureka/GW)
1 x Dwarf Cannons (Kall)
1 x Dwarf Handgunners (GW)
1 x Dwarf Hero (GW)
1 x Dwarf Runesmith (GW)

1 x Undead Skull Chukka (GW)
1 x Undead Skeletons (GW)
1 x Undead Cavalry (GW)
6 x Undead Chariots (GW)

2 x Bretonnian Grail Knights (Pen)
1 x Bretonnian Men-at-arms (Pen)
4 x Bretonnian Peasants    (Pen)

1 x Dogs of War Birdmen (MM)
1 x Dogs of War Dwarf Hero (GW)

2 x Araby Spearmen (Pen)
2 x Araby Bowmen (Pen)
2 x Wizard + Djinn (Pen/MM)

1 x Halfling Head Chef/Field Kitchen (MM)

1 x Chaos Dwarf General (Eureka)
3 x Chaos Dwarf Heroes (Eur)
3 x Chaos Dwarf Sorcerers (Eur)
6 x Chaos Dwarf Warriors (Eur)
4 x Blunderbusses (Eur)
4 x Bull Centaurs (Eur)
1 x Earthshaker Cannon   (Eur)
2 x Death Rocket (Eur/Pen)
2 x Black Orcs (Polar Fox)
6 x Orc Slaves (Kall)

1 x Hobgoblin General on Spider (MM)
6 x Hobgoblin Heroes (MM)
3 x Hobgoblin Shamen (MM)
6 x Hobgoblin Infantry (MM)
3 x Hobgoblin Wolf Riders (MM)
3 x Bolt Throwers (MM)
2 x Death Worms (Pen)

1 x Black Coach   (Pen)
6 x Vampires (Pen)
3 x Necromancers (Pen)
6 x Ethereal Host (Pen)
3 x Fell Bats (Pen)
8 x Dire Wolves   (Pol)

1 x Chaos General (Evil Men)
3 x Chaos Heroes (EM)
3 x Chaos Sorcerers (EM)
5 x Chaos Warriors (EM)
5 x Chaos Marauders (EM)
4 x Chaos Knights (EM)
3 x Chaos Chariots (EM)
2 x Harpies (EM)
1 x Dragon Ogres (EM)
8 x Marauder Horsemen (Newline/MM)

A total of just over 14,100 points. I’ve now got a total of around 35,000 points spread across 12 armies – is that too much?  ;) ;D

What are Death Worms you ask? Pendraken code DN5 – google Mongolian Death Worm – use Chaos Spawn stats/rules for this unit. As Hobgoblins are geographically the Mongols of the Warhammer world, this seemed a suitable monster unit.

2016 will see me buying more Magister Militum Goblins to expand the Hobgoblin army I’m part way through, as well as Pendraken Zombies, Skeletons and Cavalry for the Vampire Counts. Then a couple of units each of Magister Militum’s Dwarf Pikes and Crossbows for the Dogs of War. I must get some more cavalry for DoW as well, haven’t got many cavalry units for that army. The Chaos army will probably get some Pendraken Giant Worms (Spawn proxies), Polar Fox Trolls and Kallistra Evil Giants (Ogre proxies). My Araby army could use some Desert Riders – I’ve none so far and haven’t found a source I really like – does anyone have any suggestions from the various historical ranges please? Probably just one more unit of Bretonnian Bowmen, I think there’s room in the box for them.

I’ve also got vague plans for High Elf, Kislev and Norse armies.

Well that little lot should keep me out of trouble. What have you got planned for the New Year?

"is that too much?"

Er, probably yes ...  Breathtaking dedication to WM painting there!

@Andys, 2015's main output was primarily Beastmen.  Looking ahead to 2016, I'm planning on going fairly gently.  Certainly not in your league!  Recently finished some Warmonger Zweihanders which I've painted as Reiksguard foot.  Next will be a Nuln rocket launcher, then some reinforcements for my Ostermark/Kislev force.  After that I'm going to do number one of a long-term project of three desert-themed armies.  First up are the Medusans; Eureka snakemen using Lizardmen stats.  If I can get them done by the Saffron Walden tournament in November I'll be happy with that progress.  After that Marienburg colony (Araby stats) and then Desert Dogs of War.  Probably in 2017 and 2018 at current rate of advance!

So far I've got plans for just short of 5000 points worth of stuff. It'll take me at least 6 months to get through them, more likely 8-9 months. I doubt I'll get much more than that done next year. Thank goodness for manufacturers other than GW!

This year's biggy on points was the Chaos Army, not many units but a smidge under 3900 points.

I'm on leave now until the 4th. I'll try to get some sorted out over the few days.

Aaarrrggghhh!! Managed to take 4 photos, then the batteries died!
Dead batteries over Xmas, how unusual. Guess I'll be buying some more tomorrow, in amongst other folks doing last minute panic buying - deep joy.

By leaving the camera for a couple of minutes, I've managed to squeeze another couple of photos out of the now very dead batteries.
Samples stands from my part built Vampire Counts army and 2 units of Eureka Dwarves with a few GW Dwarves on the command stands.

Santa, (well the kids after I'd dropped a massive hint along the lines of "THESE would be good for a Christmas present"), has brought me two units each of Magister Militum Dwarf Pikes, Dwarf Crossbows and Orc Chariots (which are great for Goblin/Hobgoblin wolf chariots).

2 of the kids and their partners will be disappearing shortly after Christmas, nicely giving me a few days gap before the middle son and his partner (and most especially my beloved grandson) come for the new year. So a bit of figure preparation and hopefully undercoating as a minimum will be achieved  ;D ;D ;D
