Ah, I thought this point might come up. A little surprised it comes from you Horizon, as it feels like a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to something that's pretty much common under the table knowledge.
I'll try to put this as respectfully as possible.
BFG is pretty much dead, and will survive only as far as we want it to. There are casters already in this community who provide excellent replacements, and there are (very easily accessible) casters who provide cheap identical original models. The future of this game relies on people having access to models, and a community to play them with.
To the point of this thread though:
The Voss model itself was a prototype that never saw release, and was scrapped around 12(?) years ago. This ship in particular, above all other models, really has the weakest grounds for infringement- which for the whole range grows weaker and weaker. I would contest your statement that asking for a recast of a Voss ship would be illegal at this time.
Yes I am familiar with it's structural weakness, considering the effort I had to go through to identify the pictures and current owners. I don't know them personally though, as others here do. I am confident though that our current tools can easily bring these babies back to the table sans mid-ship warping, if the owners were willing to lend or sell the model to a person with a good rep.
Cheers!
