The bard's tale
« on: March 16, 2015, 11:01:32 PM »
This is the copy or the transloaction to warmaster of an scenario of Daniel Mersey included in his rulesets Dux Bellorum.

The bard's tale make the game completely different. Could be use for WM or WMA.

I will try to explain (if you have access to the original text could be worth, I made some modifications too).

The philosophy: The game emulate the Epic Tales of Dark age, in example the tale of Taleisin or Eddas from Vikings among others.

· Each player has a character or token representing a Bard who's work is to record the deeds of the Battle.
· Bards move in the character phase and attach units, as character does.
· If the unit of the bard is destroyed, the Bard is not elimanted and can join another friendly unit within 30cm.
· Victory points are score in the following way:

- Only score the VP of the unit who has the bard. If you kill your enemy count the whole cost of the unit destroyed. If the unit who has the bard is destroyed, then count half points (hey even when you loose men the Tale is dramatic), and bard can move to another unit 30cm. Maybe you could take advantage of the carnage of your mens to make a great Tale.

- Score double VP of the unit destroyed which make a breakpoint only if Bard is in the combat.

- When there are multiple combat, if the Bard is attached to a unit involucrated, then the whole multiple combat is considered to be heroic and count to VP.

The player with the most VP at the end of the game (turns limit reached) or when a breakpoint is reached is the winner, regardless if the army is routed or not or the units losts.
It is not about winning the battle it is about carrying out the most heroic deeds (but only when a bard is close by!!)

have you been able to play this scenario?  it sounds like a lot of fun, if not just for the fact that you get to make a bard  :)

haha thanks for the interest!

Unfortunateley I did not play the scenario, but I really think it could work and make a lot of fun with your regular player.
