1250 games
« on: November 23, 2014, 04:46:36 PM »
I have seen many folks talk about learner games, starter games and perhaps just pick up games with smaller points value for quicker finishing times.

I've even come across an Australian site talking about 1000 point tournaments.  As my friend and I ease back into playing, i am considering 1250 point games.

My question is, in playing a game of this size, do you use the 1000 point min/max totals or do you use the 2000 point min max totals?

Kinda hampers things if i HAVE to take 4 crossbowman and 4 halbadiers in 1250 (or 4 skeletons and 4 archers for my buddy).  But its still doable.

So how do folks normally figure the min/max totals for games of this size?

At MadGamers in Maidenhead we recently chose Warmaster as our annual competition. The organiser decided on 1500 points, small enough to be over in a couple of hours/5 turn, but enough points to get a variety of units in.

These were the amendments to the vanilla list.

Quote
Army List
Each player should bring a Warmaster army of no more than 1,500 points along with a typed army list.

The minimum and maximum number of units of different types you can include is as per a 1,000 points army, except you can if you wish also include (i) an extra hero or wizard; and/or (ii) an extra infantry, cavalry, chariot, artillery or monster unit of your choice for your army type.

I think we all [6] found this worked and that the games were completed within the given time, there were some smaller starter games where we just lined up three units and practised combat etc, using this esteemed forum to resolve issues.

For myself with Orcs I stuck to vanilla and managed to win the comp  ;D, not bad as I hadn't played Warmaster before.

When I start I played a lot of 500 points battles, with half min/max. It is a good way of learning rules and quick game. With very few figures/units you could feel the taste of different armies.

I am considering solo playing and start again with 500 points battles

Blimey, the only way I could do 10k on one side would be a Chaos / High Elves alliance. =-P

Does a quick count... covered.  But it may have to be a good vs evil battle royale.

Thank you

Once I get a better camcorder rather than filming on the ipad I will do the armies of good. at the moment  it loses so much detail and lighting is always a problem  then will  be able to battle reports on video better
