Looks good

I'll be interested to hear how the modelled planets go in play. I'm usually big on terrain building, but in BFG being able to sit on a planet can be pretty important, so I've avoided making them as anything but flat templates.

That is a good point. Guess I'll see how it goes! I've seen plenty of pictures of boards with fully modeled planets though, so they can't be that bad to use (hopefully).

And Tyranid time!

Hive fleet assembled

Vanguard Droneships with Feeder Tendrils

Escort Droneships with Pyro-acid batteries

Krakens with Torpedoes

Krakens with Massive Claws

Cruiser with Massive Claws, Feeder Tendrils, and Bio-plasma

And the Hiveship with Launch Bays and Pyro-acid batteries

Finally, some Fighters

Dang Boss yer a machine!  Really nice stuff.  I like the furst pak of Brutes better than da second.  Da second wun looks a tad bit weedy fur me likings.  The color scheme it sweet like young squig meat.  As for the Klan colors, ummmm the jury is out.  Now I really can’t say much as me fleet has not seen a drop of paint.  I like what you’re doing and you make me want to pull out me paints.  Hopefully you figure it out so I can juz loot yer method!  As fur running lights I’m torn.  Part of me says no running lights as dey is Orks and what Ork in his right mind needs running lights?  Running lights is fur Oomans, see.  Hmmmmmmmm (scratching bald scared up dented head)  Part of me wants to just paint blacked out rusted Big Wagons.  Then again we will see when we get there.  Yer Bugs look really good.  Love the colors and overall feeling.  Keep dem coming Boss, keep dem coming!  Your inspiring me to build!

Oh and one more fing while I gotz ya Boss.  Those manta ray bug fings.  I think Da Red may be a little heavy on dare Gut Bags.  It's a hard contrast yet the rest of the colors are more how do ya say it smooth?  Perhaps dry brushing it up so it's more subtle.  Well unless da secret plan is ta make dem go fasta dat is.  I don't mean any disrespect Boss, really fine work ya gotz dare.  Just me two teef worth.  Ok den I'll get back to me own side of da Shak............... (shrugging shoulders with a toothy grin)

I like the design of your escorts- I may have to steal some of those ideas. I also like the use of actual shells in your bigger ships.

Do you ever have problems with you and your opponent knowing what is 'forward' on a tyranid ship?

Thanks mates!

@Geep: can't say that I've had any issues with that. They've all got pretty distinct fronts and backs, plus heading marks on the bases. Was there a configuration in particular that looked confusing?

@Gun_wun: yeah, the torpedo bugs ammo sacks are a little bold. I copied the color scheme directly from my 40K 'nid army, where there was a lot more red to go around, making it stand out less there. I messed around with trying something different on the ships and couldn't find anything I liked. As fer yer t'oughts on da green ladz, glad yer likin' what'cher seeing! Dem is right simple ta paint too: first ya drybrush wit sum Boltergun Metalz, den do a bit o' dabbin' wit Runelord Brass an' Skraag Brown. Finish it up wit a spot a Mithril Silver an' finally sum blackened bits round where da engines done got soot on everyfink. Now git on ter yer own ships now ya lazy squig-lover! We haz 'umies ta fight! *cracks whip*

Ya dat red takes away a bit.  Somefing more flesh/pinkish although if it’s matching yer 40K Gits then I understand.  But dang Boss dem some nice bugs I’z juz got-ta stop looking at dat red.  I may end up looting yer paint scheme fur me ships.  I really likes it.  As fur me own fleet Da Big Boss has had me building tanks n epic fings.  Although Da good news is I’ve been back on Da BFG side of Da Shak dis week.  Da Boss put a thrashing on some Ooman Gits a few weeks back and he is now wanting work done on Da Fleet.  He says he wants it good n proper.  Problem is see, I’z gotz lotz go-in on and have spread me self a bit thin.  Soon I throw down some “Squig Pak” stuff as seeing yer fleet is bringing out Da WAAAGH in me.  Who knows perhaps we will start a flow and more Gits will join us.

I've known for people to get the directions mixed up of cruisers and hive ships mainly. Even most official BFG photos seem about 50/50 on which end faces the enemy. I know the vassal BFG mod makes some choices in that area that confuse me.

Wow! Great work! I especially like how your 'nids turned out.

The massiv ships still looks like shells a little bit too much for me, but the work is still impressive. I do love the smallest ships with tendrils.

Not dead! I got a new Chromebook to replace my laptop, which makes uploading pictures a little annoying. Been making quite a bit of progress in the meanwhile, but no pictures of most of it. However, I figured these were worth posting. Can't tell if I'm crazy or onto something, but here are some Eldar ships that I tossed together. Obviously not canonically what Eldar ships looks like, but they do seem like the sorts of ships that Eldar might build. And, even more obviously, only one of them is fully painted. Nightshade has orange wings, hemlock has pink (which I'm not quite happy with the shade of yet).

Thanks mlkr!

Hull of the hemlock is indeed a Dark Eldar splinter rifle, hull of the other is a Dark Eldar blaster pistol. Wings are from the High Elf Noble kit (they're supposed to go on a helmet); unfortunately, there used to be LOTS of these in stock at the various bits sites I use, but now there are none to go around. I think I'm going to have to experiment with casting to get enough.
