Looking for 10mm "bits" and scenic stuff
« on: October 12, 2014, 07:58:28 PM »
I posted a similar topic to this a while back but I thought I'd bring it back up again.

Pendraken do a range of different things - there's some odds and ends in their dungeon range, but not that many, small treasure piles, tiny bone piles, camp fires and such.  In the other ranges there are wooden barrels and crates which is quite good, but not much for variety

I'm looking for things to make things more... characterful, like a Warhammer table in miniature.

Statue plinthes
Sacks / Cargo (Other than Pendraken)
Standing stones / Wryd stones / Waystones
Gibbets
Wagon wheels / Cart wheels or ruined carts.
Gravestones / Tombs / Crypts / Mausoleums
Signposts
Village and town "furniture"
Ruins
Pillars / Obelisks

The EDG studio guys made a well and a castle and a windmill - and some elven waystones but they seem to have fallen silent and gone on to an Epic kickstarter so I'm not sure if we'll get anything more out of them.

I'm wondering if there are some obvious items lurking out there that I might have missed.

There is a lot of stuff in the Pendraken catalogue - but a lot of it is hidden away in somewhat obscure ranges.

One of the best is the ECW Artillery equipment pack

There are also a lot of different wagons in the various ranges, including medieval, ECW, SYW and WWII (and probably ACW).

There are some small standing stones in the norse range.

If you have looked at the dungeon ranges have you seen the furniture (tables, book cases, chairs)?

The other big source is model railway stuff - N gauge is the equivalent sale to 10mm, obviously most stuff is more modern but you can find bits and pieces. Kestral & Ratio stuff is plastic kits so easy to convert.

The Chaos character pack has a skeleton in gibbet, so you should be able to find some of them.

Warmaster chariot wheels sometimes come up on ebay- I think there's some there now- though prices are horrible. Similarly for the Warmaster carts.

Some of what you mention would be really easy to scratch build- like the signposts, gravestones and pillars. Just find some square plastic rod and plasticard sheet and you're away. Standing stones can be easily carved from spare plastic sprue.

You may also be able to find columns in a Lindcraft style store (I don't know if they're world wide?), or anywhere that does wedding cake decorations.

The Truthsayer and Dark Emissary has a standing stone each. I have them. Both they are rare and impossible to get now. (except overprice on ebay which is how I got it  :( )

Battle of Five Armies has some small ruins... I just got hold of them.

Wagon and carts can be acquired from Eureka and Kallistra I believe ...

I noticed that Eureka has a lot of animals, cows etc.
I really would love to buy some Warmaster Kislev, Araby, Bretonnia, Vampire Counts, Chaos demons ...

Irregular is also a source of farm animals, and has some wagons and bits of storage (though not particularly pseudo-medieval in era).
