Space Fleet ships in BFG
« on: September 03, 2014, 12:23:00 AM »
Hi all! It is great to see the Specialist Games alive and kicking!!

BFG is one of my favorite GW games (second to Blood Bowl). I rarely play, but I enjoy collecting, painting and list building. I would like to incorporate my collection of Imperial Space Fleet ships into my BFG fleets. I have read the rules presented in Warp Rift, but I'm at a loss which direction to go... use the Warp Rift rules, use the ships as proxies/'counts as', use an alternate set of rules? I am not opposed to doing all three.

My main fleet is IN, but I also have a good sized SM fleet and a budding RT fleet. Ideally I would like to incorporate the models where they best fit visually, but as I imagine using all three fleets as both adversaries and allies, if the Space Fleet ships end up in one fleet, that's OK too.

For completeness, here are the ships that I have:

Castellan Shield Ship
Gothic Battleship
Galaxy Troopship
Thunderbolt Cruiser x6
Cobra Destroyers x8
Goliath Factory Ship
Stalwart Escort x5
Constellation Targeting Ships x6
Ironclad Battleship x2
Emperor Battleship
Tyrant Battleship x2

Cheers!

Not a popular topic I see! :P  I decided to use the Warp Rift rules for now, with the ships dispersed through my fleets as such:

IMPERIAL NAVY FLEET
Emperor Battleship (Cruiser)
Tyrant Battleship (Cruiser) x2
Thunderbolt Cruiser (Corvette) x6
Constellation Targeting Ships x6

ROGUE TRADER FLEET
Ironclad Battleship (Cruiser) x2
Gothic Battleship (Cruiser)
Castellan Shield Ship
Galaxy Troopship
Goliath Factory Ship
Cobra Destroyers x8

DEFENSE FLEET
Stalwart Escort x5

My reasons for this arrangement are based on a combination of the function of the ship and the hull style.

For example The Gothic ship style (including the smaller Ironclad and Cobra) have an exotic feel that I thought fit better with the Rogue Trader fleet. As did the shield, troop, and factory ships for reasons of function. The Stalwart was described as a non-warp/in-system ship, so I included it with my "Defense" fleet. Everything else went with the Imperials.

I do agree with your choice based on the hull design !
I am close to incorpore some of this reference into my RT fleet.

Post some pictures when you gone paint them.
We do see so often some of this old reference on the web !

I use the spacefleet ships mostly in my Rogue Trader fleet with a mix of regualr and Warp Rift rules. Some of my painted stuff is up here: http://epicaddiction.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/imag0859.jpg

but I have some more recent sutff that has not made it up. I really like the warp Rift rules, but need the counts-as Rogue Trader Cruisers / SF Gothics to make the fleet work!

I like how clean and crisp your ships look!

Those are the SF ships I also assigned to my RT fleet. The SF ships that appear to be of the same lineage as the current IN ships are the ones that will be in my IN fleet.
