BFG Cards
« on: May 04, 2014, 03:50:55 PM »
Hi

A while back, I found this great idea by Xeno Turkey
http://xenoturkeyhunters.blogspot.dk/2011/06/battlefleet-gothic-stat-cards.html

For those not wanting to follow the link, he basically made BFG stat cards looking like this

Unfortunately, the project seemed to be dropped, and he never made the source files available. So, I went ahead and made my own versions.

I have made cards for the 4 standard imperial cruisers (BFGR rules) in LibreOffice. They are meant to print on A4, and should fit the dimensions of a magic card exactly (3.5" x 2.5")

https://www.dropbox.com/s/uyvezoquwkzue40/Imperial%20Cruisers%20Cards.odt
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1mn270u7bsn5tcb/Imperial%20Cruisers%20Cards.pdf

Put them in a plastic sleeve and you can mark damage with a whiteboard marker.

How do you like the design? Is the placement of stuff logical? Should I find some better images for the ships?

I plan to make the entire imperial navy, chaos, ork, space marine and craftworld eldar range, as these are the fleets I own. I anyone cares, I could also include other ranges. I do not want to start making the ranges until the community have given me some feedback, as errors are easier to correct at this state.

Regards

Nice one. Print and laminate and Bob's your uncle.
very handy.
As we Imperials say, "The Emperor [class battleship] Protects..."

Please let me know if you find any errors, or if you find these things useful.

A bit of thread necromancy here, but just wanted to say THANK YOU!!

I remember seeing people use something similar (although much larger) at conventions and have always wanted to have cards like these for my (rare) BFG games.  This made my day!  :-D

Is there a source file I can grab to do my own at all?

I am doing up a local 30K BFG and have converted a number of the Chaos ships across to Heresy era named ship designs, these would be ideal to have.

Also wanted to say thanks. I have continued on from the files which you linked above and have managed to create a document with all of the Battleships, Battlecruisers, Grand Cruisers, Cruisers, Light Cruisers, Frigates and Destroyers from BFG 2010, Armada and BFG main book.

Our local group doesnt play BFGR so I opted to create them using the most up to date original versions.

I plan on doing the same for Chaos and then if the motivation keeps going some of the Xenos, but in all honesty I suspect the steam will run out by then considering I have little interest in those fleets. However the templates are very easy to use and update.

I have no idea where I can upload the document though, will a google drive work?

I'm glad someone is continuing this. Google drive should work as long as you set the document to public. When I have some free time I could probably take a stab at doing a few Xenos fleets. Thanks!

here is the google drive link (I hope, never really used it before)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_3DkXoD9DLEXzBJSnlYTVJuQlE/view?usp=sharing

Now the preview looks all weird, but once you download the file and enable the edit function the alignment resets and falls into place... really weird.

Nice work!

But, I only see the BattleBarges cards... The other ones are black. Can't see more ships.

Hmm, not sure what is happening there? They are appearing ok on my system and a few of the local guys have tried ok as well.

What program are you using?

I know they wont work very well in Preview or non edit modes but once you load into the full file it realigns itself.

I can upload the Doc and/or ODT files if you want?

Can confirm that the doc corrects itself when downloaded. Excellent work! :)
