Wow, what type of 3D printing did you use for the masters? Was there some post processing, I can't see any build lines at all.

Ships look epic by the way.
All ahead full. Ram them.

Those prints were done by Vision Proto in the US (http://visionproto.com/). I don't know the actual printing machine but suffice to say it gives flawless results for such models. There was practically no post-processing required other than cleaning up a couple of marks where the support material joined the model. It was printed hollow to save cost so I also had to fill it with resin.

There are literally no build lines or striations. You pay for it though - it's ten times the cost of printing in FUD from Shapeways. But in my opinion printing in anything other than this kind of quality is a waste of time.

So these showed up in the post yesterday. Not much at the moment but they are the pre-production casts for the Dreadnought and Firedrake. I'll be painting these up in the coming weeks.

If all goes well, we'll be launching December 1.

More ships of course! We have some background info we'll be working on. At this stage we don't plan to do any rules - these ships are flexible and can be used as proxies in any of the existing rulesets. We're also excited to hear the rumours that Andy Chambers is working with Hawk Wargames on a new starship combat game!

Well when they come out say, "hey we're making this game dropfleet command with Andy BMF Chambers", that's not really a rumor ;)

Great work on those ships and fabulous packaging as well. A real pro job!

Haha that's true, but I heard it secondhand through others, so it's a rumour to me ;)

For some reason that picture didn't really impress me that much. However, it is pretty awesome that Andy Chambers is said to be working on this upcoming game.

I wonder if they can live up to the expectations though, not only from a gaming point of view, but also from a ship design perspective.

It's big, that is what it is.

And for the game itself: I wonder if Andy will ditch ordnance from the game. In an interview he once said he was never sure on it regarding BFG and almost cut it.
But the thing with ordnance is: due movies like Star Wars and pc games like Wing Commander people will expect this in a space ship game.

It's impressive due purely to its size! It looks unfinished though - seems like it needs detailing passes, particularly on the prow...
