as nice as the ships are. I personally think that making them bigger and having them as actual ships (like your javellins) was much better.
these tokens will never be as good to me. bit of a cop-out and an obvious attempt from john to simply make the molds last longer.
also a large folly on his part as, being flat tokens one need only purchase one set than press it into a suitable medium and make easily make their own press-molds in miliput, greenstuff or even casting resin.

ships being actual ships and not tokens is all part of the majesty of bfg.
making 3d tokens is like why bother, to me. just use the card if you're gonna do that.
its forth wall breaking and caters more to games than modellers. which I feel is not right. it should draw the line down the middle...

but thats just my two-pennith...

no disrespect to your designs at all, they're great.
I just dont like tokens.

I've been very intrigued by the concept of megastructures in space, so I've started working on a quick experiment. Note that printing this model would be impossible since it has a diameter of 1.2 meters!

Vanguard Miniatures Panthera Heavy Frigate and Spiculum Fighter added for scaling purposes.

I might have to try something smaller, but I would like to explore fleet scale terrain some more...

The experiment continues. I've reduced the diameter to 31cm:

It's kinda inspired by those ring shaped orbital stations from the 60s/70s, but apparently the concept was already thought of in the earliest years of the 20th century...crazy Russian scientists!

The movie Elysium had this as well.

And indeed Interstellar

also star-trek "beyond" 's rendition of 'yorktown' was essentially a bunch of these interlaid together inside a big old glass bowl...

yes, indeed elysian eylsium did have those dyson rings on it. plus it also had orlock arms master-servo suits... and crazy, regenerating, south-african mercenary-spacemen to wear them! is it me or was this just district nine wihtout the prawns? still loved it.
blomkamp's take on sci-fi and social-satire is spot on.
I loved chappie too...

its great that a concept so utterly impossible for mankind to ever, socially, economically or practically build in space is still so scientifically feasable, concept wise...

still,makes for great sci-fi set-pieces

Im loving those cruiser sized 'not' chaos prows. They'd look just as good on an imperial cruiser!

Work on the orbital ring colony continues. These structures are often built in the orbits of worlds that undergo the terraforming process. They form the bases from which these worlds are made suitable for human habitation.

Plan is to make a printable model with a diameter of about 80mm. Ambition is also that this is but the first item of fleetscale civilian terrain. I'd love to develop more such orbital cities, space mirrors, stations, etc.
