The Frigate and ordnance will be available through Vanguard Miniatures in spring. The Destroyers will follow later, depending on the sales of the other kits.

The idea behind this ship is that its weaponry is hidden inside the hull/prow of the ship. It's only visible because the ship's hatches are opened. I guess the model could also be used as a Defence Monitor.

A few things that still need to be done:
(1) Tweaking some of the details
(2) Making an enclosed prow variant (where you don't see any weapons protruding)
(3) Make two bits to enclose the top part of the hull, to make it seem as if the turrets are hiding down below in the hull.

These look great mate. A bit to high-Tech for Imperial Navy ships but they'd work for AdMech. What scale will these be? Escorts or Cruiser sized?

They are escort sized, about 48mm long.

I like the prew.

As said, and it's a nice remark, they look a little bit full tech. Clearly top notch modern vessels.

I've heard that remark before. I'm not sure if that's going to stop people from buying the model though. Let's hope not. Personally I quite dig the more techy feel...

Great looking ship... Looks like a cross between a blockade runner and an imperial transport with an ad mech vibe! All positives as far as I'm concerned...

Thanks! I was thinking of something similar. It could even be a defence monitor.

Also, I've started working on some more prows... (see attachment)

Side views on the left, frontal views on the right. Clockwise:
  • Top left: enclosed prow (weapons hidden)
  • Top right: torpedo prow
  • Bottom left: lance prow
  • Bottom right: turret prow

Teaser...

These'll be available at Vanguard Miniatures from tomorrow...

Not sure yet when the bombers will be out, but I was curious if anybody would like to see a 6mm version of this one?

Ooo, I should have already looked here to see your 6 mm bomber construct! Serves me right for visiting Taccoms more than Specialist Arms :P I see the prototype 6 mm does have a chin gun. I like the general shape still, though I wonder if the defensive weapons could be a bit more interesting (the chin gun seems a bit flimsy). Perhaps there could be two small turrets or pop-up guns on the wings?

For the Q-ship (though it's been a while since you put the render out!) I wonder about the squareness of the torpedo prow torpedo mount. It would be nice if there was some way to integrate it more with the hull, make it seem less like a platform. Anyways, just some thoughts!

*Throws money at you*

Any chance of getting a scale shot for the Destroyers (metal ships). How do they scale up against a Sword/Dauntless/Cruiser??

Sadly enough I don't have any official BFG models myself. To give you an idea of scale though, the Panthera Heavy Frigate is about 52mm long.

The idea is that the prow mounted weapons are normally hidden. The front 'hatch' (in case of the torpedo and weapon battery prows) has opened, revealing its deadly cargo.

Fair enough. So they are between Dauntless and a Sword frigate then. I'll have to buy one and see how they scale up. I'm looking for some 'Heavy frigates' for my Rogue Trader fleet and these will suit them perfectly if they scale right.

Any plans to give them more of an Imperial style prow? No worries if not, I'll make my own if that's the case.

New release!!! I'm kinda excited here, for years I've been working on designing ships and one of the reasons why I've joined up with Vanguard Miniatures was to have my ship designs put in production. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a whole bunch of ships being released!

Novan Elites Panthera Class Heavy Frigate x 2 - £7.00

Quote
The Panthera class Heavy Frigate is the workhorse of the Novan Elite fleets. Heavily armed and armoured, its various weapon configurations allow it to fulfil many different void combat roles.
No matter its broadside configuration, the Panthera’s basic armament includes two heavy twin linked dorsal mounted turrets and two pairs of prow torpedo tubes. Its broadsides allow for different types of weapon systems which can be changed whilst in dock due to it’s modular design.
Most commonly used are weapons batteries, more than capable of tearing huge chunks out of enemy vessels many times its own size. Another popular configuration for the Panthera is to fit it with launch bays, allowing the heavy frigate to carry several squadrons of Javelin fighters and Pilum bombers. In order to protect other ships of the fleet from waves of ordnance and enemy fighters the Panthera is sometimes also configured with broadside turret platforms capable of projecting a withering volume of defensive fire.

Panthera class heavy frigate x 2 with three broadside options each. Images show three vessels to demonstrate the broadside options.

Model is 52mm long, bases not included.
