Fielding Strike cruisers with a second shield

Hi, in the 2010 update in the crusade fleet list there is the option on pg 59 in the grey box to arm your strike cruisers differently and give them an extra shield for 15pts.  Do people think that this option would carry over to all strike cruisers, something like a nova cannon upgrade on certain imperial ships, and not just the cruisers in the crusade fleet list?  Could I add shields to strike cruisers in a segmentum solar list?  Just for reference I am using the 2010 update but not BFG-R.  Thanks

Thanks, its good to be back.  I went through a period where my BFG play shrank down to almost nothing so my need/ interest did the same.  This past year a new game store opened near me and there has been a revival of BFG I've not seen since the begining of the game.  I am playing again so I am thinking about it again and that got me to find you guys again.  I haven't been active since the time of the old SG forums.
