An email from GW
« on: May 10, 2013, 06:54:40 AM »
So I placed a very large BFG order the other day to ensure I got just a little more (especially for the Chaos fleet my brother is giving me) before it is gone forever.

Today I got this email:
We are currently packing the order you placed with Games Workshop. However; one or more of the item(s) you ordered are currently out of stock. We have decided to hold your order because those out of stock items are due in within the next 1 - 2 weeks.

So somehow, somewhere they have to ability to procure some of these kits some how. I wonder if it is just consolidation of their international warhousing and product availability to do so though.

I had the same thing happen to me, i ordered a retribution battleship when it was still in stock, but it had ran out by the dispatch date

i rang customer services and they said they'd get one cast for me

i think what their doing is make enough extras to fill the orders that have been made (example 5 in stock 7 ordered, make 2 more), however their not re-stocking

Makes sense. I wonder what the packaging will be.

not really bothered about the packaging, main thing is that their willing to make extra models for those that have ordered them when in stock only to be told that they won't get them because their no longer in stock

From GW CS orders placed while items were still in stock should be getting honoured. UK staff were, apparently, casting a load of Eldar today (which I'm relieved at as I'd dropped £100 on an eldar fleet).

These are just being done to fulfill orders placed, there's no intention of continuing to make them past whatever point the miniatures are pulled (e.g. you can order a void stalker today, but not a repulsive).

I'll laugh if they make more in sg sales this month than they have made on the hobbit

that woulld be funny, i don't think i'd be suprised either. maybe the surge in sales might make them re-release it and market it better

if it did make more than the hobbit i don't think they'd say anything seeing as its being kept ratehr hushed up

Which, when they sell (if they sell) might just showcase the incompetence of their current execs enough to force it to become a hobby company again.

They used to market it in the old WD, but very little.

I feel the internet age would make it easier.

As well if they weren't called Specialist Games. Specialist makes people feel they are niche and not for most peole. Expansion Games would be a better title IMO.

Or you know dont play them off like a seperate thing at all. Epic 40k says it all: 40k EPIC!!! but once you put it under another name "specialist games" its suddenly no longer Epic 40k its just Epic, some game with little things that somewhat resemble a different more mainstream game. The same can be said for most of the other games too. Unless youve been around awhile and know that these are a part of the universe theres nothing to really tie it in and by putting them under a seperate header they have confused the issue even more.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

well, now GW really killed it.

i placed a large order some weeks ago, and when the stuff arrived, half of it was missing.

i paid for everything, but recieved only half of the stuff.
there was no email or notification what's going on with the other ships. two weeks i waited, then today i went to my local GW store and talked to the store guy about it. he called some people, and the result is:

i am not getting my ships.
and if i had't asked about it, they would not have given me my money back.

what.
