For this campaign, since it's intended to be anyone around the globe, no one has to worry about any map based stuff. On the link, there is a form that you send in after games that will support your faction. That's it! And the storyline will develop from there.

question:
do we get the points for submitting the participating fleets to gothicomp only if at the point we hand in the battle report they are already submitted to gothicomp?
or is it enough that they WILL be submitted to this years gothicomp?

because i could right away start with some games, but some of my ships i want in the fleet i will submit to gothicomp are not yet fully painted...

If it was already submitted this year, it's fine! Feel free to play those games and submit those reports. You can check the gothicomp box whenever you submit it to gothicomp later on.

And just an update: the lore for the sector will be updated based on what players and what factions are playing. At this point, the lore is light because we don't know who's involved! The idea is to set a template for the campaign and develop it based on who submits battle information!

I'll play, though I don't care for the Gothicomp bonus points. 2 points every time? Plus my stuff isn't up to snuff, so meh to that. Are you stuck to a given faction, or just play whatever?

For instance, I'll likely be playing games with all my fleets: Ultramarines, Word Bearers, and Imperial Navy. Can I enter games for any/all?

2 points if you submitted that fleet this year, not every game. Did you paint all of those fleets and they were entered this year? Then I think you should be able to check the box for that fleet if so.
