I will try to write a clarification this afternoon if you understood that ;), there is no need of contriburtion from anyone just if anyone wants to participate.
I offer myshelf to start leading a workshop, then after that anorther guy can lead another one.
If you are interested in giving a try to modelling ships you don't need more.
As well maybe gun_wun wants as well to participate and maybe start a green skin one ::)
I colaborate with a spanish blog called profanus40k.

Hey Malika, sorry I sort of missed your last post in regards to building small component pieces.  That is what my mind was wrapping around as far as using sketch up.  I’ve got a break from work coming up in December and I think I’m going to do a test drive and see how it works.  I do think it would be cool to have a bunch of bitz to use.  That is sort of what is happening now except that I’m scratch building the pieces.  I built a ton of small turrets to use on me battleship and well you can see those bits now being used on “Da Wot Not” and “Dagga Kart.”  Let’s see as far as the link for scratch building Harec, I think it is a great idea.  I too have been watching it.  Didn’t Khar attempt the same thing awhile back when he showed us how he did those sweet Tau escorts?  I don’t mind contributing, but my problem is I have very little time and not a lot of consistency.  I do think it is a good idea, and I’m watching if it takes off perhaps in the future you guys could talk me into taking a run at it.  Let see where it goes.  Oh and before I break contact, YES,  Aguahog………………….  Just like painting.  Let go and just let it be.  Build yourself in small obtainable steps.  There are so many aspects of this hobby I want to get better at.  It will come, one step at a time.

Hmm, I could design a series of turrets, lets say 3-5 variants, and sell them in packs of 25-30. You'd basically need a single pack to do your entire fleet. :)

I'd buy some.  Can't have to many turrets!

By the way, what are the average dimensions for the turrets you've been building? I assume a cube of around 5mm x 5mm x 5mm? (excluding the barrels)?

Hey Malika, you give me way more honor than you could know, thank you.  You “quickly” through those together?   Very cool, and F%$^ you in the same breadth!  It would have took me a lot of time to try to hand build something close to that.  In the end I would have had cut fingers, sore eyes and a mad wife………….. ( I’m going to have to learn how to use sketch up)  Nice work.  My only concern is the builds are a little big to use as turrets.  Right now my turrets are roughly without barrels:  weedy guns 2mm x 2mm  less weedy guns 2mm x 3mm  shootas 3mm x 3mm.  The pieces really need to be small.  Now my gun shaks are considerably bigger, but me turrets need to be little to keep the feeling I’m looking for.  Over all I’m having a hard time representing the small scale and I keep finding myself wanting to build some Aeronautica stuff as the scale is nicer to work with.  It’s as I’m sure most of you understand hard to stay focused on one project, but I know if I jump projects Da Fleet will never get finished.  Speaking of which I played my first game of BFG da other night.  Played Krooser Clash and got me butt torped to death!  The good news it after about 3 turns we were flowing with the basic rules and it was a good time.  I’m looking forward to jumping in again.  I was a bit worried that if I didn’t like the game I may lose motivation to finish Da Fleet.  Although Da Big Boss smiled so I’ll keep building.  Ok, thanks again Malika for your work, I’m curious if you can or would be willing to make those shootas smaller.  Thanks!

Here is a few shots of “Da Wot Not”.  My plan is to do a bunch of plates on the prow.  I’m thinking the front gun from the original Cobra is going to get cut off and I may attempt to add a small engine with a suppa blowa.  Although being that the space is so small it may just get some plates there.  I’m going to find some more places to add some more plates overall, and I think I’m going to call it done.  “Dang” did I just say done?  I’ve still got to add some kind of engine set up to the back, but I wanted to get the front half right first.  I also need to do a bit more work on Da top Gun.  Perhaps a small deck for it to sit on, something is lacking there.   I have this vision of this thing covered in plates, but unfortunately there is only so much room, and it is tight space to work with.  I want to orkify it, while still making it recognizable as a Cobra.  I’m finding it a tough balancing act…………..

I added teef to the prow of “Da Dagga Kart” as a request for a good friend of mine.  Building the teef was a bit like wrestling with a Rippa Squig , but not too bad.  I added some serious blast damage to the hull and then tried to show how Da Boyz stitched her up and made her fit to fight again. I’ve moved and built girders several times now and I think I like their final resting place.  I will need to go back and work on the battle damage a bit, the problem is it is right at the mounting point (bad me),  I worry a bit about the integrity of the mount so I have to watch that I don’t cut too deep.  I going to try and trim the  barrel  of the old gun from the original Cobra to clean it up, but I just might need to add a new barrel.  It’s hard to tell from the picture but I think the battle damage on the Port side wing came out pretty nice.  I’m going to put some straight pipes coming out of the ribbed tubing piece to represent exhausts.  I also think I’m getting close to calling it good on this build too.  Same story I want it Orkifyed without losing the idea that it was once a Cobra.  Over all the build is starting to get a bit messy, I should probably quit while I’m ahead, but man I just can’t help me self!

Ok in closing, I now going to try and build a blue stuff 2 piece mold of a Iconoclast Class Destroyer.  I just hate to cut up a original metal one and besides green stuff is much nicer to work with.  I was pretty happy with how my mold came out for me Cobras.  The Iconoclast is going to be for Da Bosses Klan of dog faced mad boyz “Da Skull Take-kas” I’m kind of excited about the potential.  Fingers crossed I can pull another 2 part press mold out of me hat.  I’m going to add another Cobra, and will top off Da “Emperors Finest” with a Sword Class Frigate.  I only have a Firestorm Frigate, but I figure after I mold it and cut it up and modify it nobody will notice the difference.  And………… Just in case you’re wondering I’m still working on “Da Munga Fish” I just don’t have much to show you at this point.  Ok as always thank you for reading and the support.  It really helps me to stay focused and moving forward.  Any comments, criticism or help is helpful.  Thanks!

The "lumpen" aesthetic of the BFG orks and the Epic models the same sculptor made aren't a patch on these.

Right on,  thank you for the pats on Da back (much better than a dagga in da back, me thinks…………..)  Ya,  Stormwind I think you said it before I really like the feeling of the old school Orks.  I guess that is what I’m trying to capture, or I’m just showing my age!  I also am not sure what you were meaning by “Lumpen”?  Your 2nd post lost me.  Yes, Blindhorizon the main body is a 2 part press mold.  I was really happy with how they turned out.  I used Blu-stuff and it worked out really well.  Now I just did 2 new molds (they are cooking as I type).  I did a Iconoclast class destroyer, I’m a little worried about it.  The mold did not come out too hot.  To many little under cuts or hmmmmmmmm we will see.  I’m new to molds so any success is forward progress!  I think the mold for the sword class frigate looks a little better, but will we see when I pull them.  I don’t need a lot. Just the basic form as I’m going to cut dem, chop dem and try and turn them into something “da Oomans” never intended them to be!  My little green fingers are crossed that I will be able to produce something I can work with.  Also on that note I broke my mold on the 2nd Cobra (Too much green stuff in too little space with a dap of too much grot tec to try and make it work propa). So we will see how it turns out.  Right on Malika yes, make dem smaller and I would love to buy some.

Smaller they shall be, but then also very much an easier design (the details I've put in the model now would be impossible to print on that scale I think).
