The Fleet is lost.
« on: January 19, 2013, 08:15:35 PM »
Normally I don't ask for favors, but I figured this community might be willing to lend a bit of a hand.

As some of you might be aware, I recently moved.

The movers thought that my IN and chaos fleets in their hard case would be a great thing to use to pad a 800 pound armoire.  (Also used to pad it was my 40k IG army hardcase.  With the FW tanks and the resin Phoenix Club female IG troopers that it's going to be a cold day in hell before I can replace)   It apparently bounced up and down on my fleet for 200 miles, both highway and back road.

On the up side, the battleships travel in a separate box that came through fine. Downside is that my hardcase is trashed and my fleet decimated.

I'm quite good at putting broken BFG minis back into service.  However, many of them are beyond even my ability to greenstuff.

Chaos

I have a stock of unbuilt cruisers, and the missing iconoclasts will not be hard to replace.  The main problem is this:

The prow is missing and the bottom part of the hull is... well... not quite shaped right anymore.  If anyone has a spare repulsive prow and that metal piece that goes on the bottom in their bit boxes, I'd really appreciate.  I'd like to kitbash her back together again.

IN

Requescat in Pace

Destroyed but replacements on hand: Swords (3) Falchions (4) Firestorms (3)

Destroyed but insufficient parts to replace: 2 Lunars, two dictators, one Armageddon (*sigh*), three hunters, two SM SCs.

mangozac prows beyond repair 4.  Hunters and one SC were FW, so I doubt any of you will have those spare laying around, but if you do...

Hilariously got through without a scratch despite also being in the box with all this carnage:

(note: I keep my much valued Long Serpent in with the battleships)

OUCH DUDE. I relived the feeling I felt when my dog, who was a puppy at the time, dominated my chaos fleet. Sorry to hear about that. Glad the Long Serpent and the battleships made it.

That really sucks, I remember when my army got stolen... it's really painful. These are more than just toys - they're your art. You put your heart into them.

I'd be happy to help, but I'm new to BFG and my collection of spare bits is nigh-insignificant.

Have you considered contacting GW for whatever your community can't help you with? They don't ask questions when you request bits replaced.

Yeah, but it's not like these were deformed kits or something.  Besides, for the last two Christmases in a row I've legitimately had to call them about deformed minis.  They might think I'm trying to rip them off if I did it a third time.

I dunno about my bit box but iirc I have the other mangozac prow in it, not the regular "vo..ahem" one.

The 'wave puncher' one or the 'sensor cluster' one?

One last suggestion: have you considered making a claim against the movers? There's usually a deductible, but given how much a fleet painted like yours would go on eBay, I think you could squeeze some cash out of those stupid sons of b*tches. Maybe even enough to replace some of what you can't repair or recreate out of unused kits.

Again, A good idea, but the limit to damages in the contract is MRRP, as they don't count as antiques or paintings (according to my attorney he could try that angle, but he admitted he was not very confident in convincing the judge that that much value had been added, as Ebay is all over the place with that sort of thing.   If I had a shelf full of Golden Demons, I might be able to make a case, but...).  On the up side, I'll be able to replace the regular Cadians and all my IG forces.  It's the oddball stuff like the kitbashed items and the custom resin bits that are a pain, as most of them are not sold or traded publicly, and some are no longer produced.   I have about enough unbuilt Phoenix Club female cadians left to build a squad, but not the full platoon worth I had before, so I'll probably use them to make weapon specialists and spread them out among the other squads.  I also picked up some of the oop female hasslefree grymn snipers to make ratlings.

BFG was were I took a beating as the MRRP for what I lost only came to about $140.  Most of the 'big ticket' items like my battleships were safe.  It just means I'll be sending mang and FW my next paycheck.

Ouch... that's not fun. I do have two prototype casts of Zac's prows, but neither are NC versions. I've also got one extra of the light cruiser prows as well.

I don't have bits, but I'd be able to send you a "Virtual Gift Voucher" for the Games Workshop site. Would that help you be able to get the ships/bits you need for repairs?

I would also be honored to participate. Over on the Privateer Press forums, we once replaced a dude's entire Everblight collection that was lost in a fire, at minimal cost to everyone involved. Many wallets make light work.

Thanks guys, that means a lot.

Mangozac has made me a good offer on replacing a lot of the stuff.

All I really need at this point is:

Three IN Cruiser sprues (A pal had an unbuilt box he gave me so I have two sprues atm) some hunters, and a repulsive (or enough bits of one).  I can pick up the FW hunters next time I get paid, they're not that much.
