How to remove Milliput from old metal model?

Hi all
I have old metal Battlefleet Gothic ships and some of them where assembled using milliput.
How to remove/dissolve it not damaging detail work ?

If you trust your ability just use a knife .try to and some water, it will make it more soft but honestly I would see any problem in removing it manualy
. I hate miliput
