I don't know why were they off the fleet, but if it was because of a reasonable reason maybe we could put some limitations likea percentage or forcing the player to use just one or the other type of escorts.
I voted yes because is better to represent the great variety of SM chapters, I even wpuld sugest to include chaos escorts.

Remove them, people who used them may use them as stand in for Nova's, Gladii, Hunters.

Firestorm RSV's made the Nova obsolete, Swords the Gladii. Even with the +5pts.
Only Hunters had a point as they had better armour then the Cobra's.

I didn't thought on that :o, but you have a point you have more experience, what if we keep it as miniatures but changing the rules so RSV firestorm counts as nova etc...
I always thought SM pure vessels were better than the imperial standar. And actually they come in blisters of 4 instead of 3.
I am worng please correct me ;)
With the new rules.
SM sword 40pts-gladius40pts and has more speed.
SM firestorm 40pts-nova 45pts but 10cm more speed, lances shooting in all directions, actually I would see them as 2 diferent tipes of ships considering the firing arc. Actually I prefer ships like novas but because I prefer to play in a disperse front, surrounding enemy ships and in that cases nova is better. I think in general that tactic works very well with boarding forces(like SM or my case nids) that why I think there is nothing to fear.
Actually this is funny, I would fear more cobras, wich have the exact funtion but less  points. Maybe we could add that SM cobras can not launch boarding torpedoes.

Kick me if im wrong but i thought only capitol ships got boarding torps... I disagree that RSVs make the SM escorts obsolete, for the reasons stated above, but im ok with people at least being able to use the ones they have even if theyre just "counts as".
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

"Space Marine vessels may fire boarding torpedoes
instead of ordinary torpedoes, as detailed in the
Ordnance rules in Battlefleet Gothic. Remember
that as these are Space Marines, they will have a +1
bonus to their hit and run attacks if they hit an
enemy ship."

Sig, you do make a good point there... But I'm not worried about the Nova with the FLR Lance. That has been very helpful as opposed to the only F facing lance on the Firestorm.

Ok, I am changing my vote to no now because I can't find a place for RSVs with the new reduced point values of the Nova and the Gladius. The RSVs are either are the IN point level with SM benefits, or they are overpriced at the SM escort point level. They don't fit, especially the Sword.

The IN Sword is 35pts.
The RSV Sword is 40ts.
The Gladius is now 40pts. There is no in between now.

Basically, the only way I would be in support of RSVs sticking around would be to allow the SM fleet to take the regular SM vessels without the SM special rules and boarding torps. I just don't see a way where it makes sense.

Vote is too controversial, it seems.

For what it's worth, I do want them back, but there is wisdom to your words, Danny Ol'Boy. RSV would be best as a simple footnote explaining that SM chapters can grab a (probably limited? Or is that stupid?) certain quantity of IN escorts as vessels, but without SM rules or the ability to squadron with SM ships.

Maybe RSV's shouldn't have SM benefits and just be normal navy escorts? In such case, they could work as a budget alternative to real SM escorts, which in general have higher stats. Might be worth testing.

Not sure what dedicated SM escorts should cost in that case, though.

Well, this vote does seem pretty 50/50. There isn't really a conclusive ration we are looking for, I suppose, but I think we can get a higher agreeing vote.  Do we want to vote on allowing SMs to take IN escorts without the SM rules? Basically, they would be IN escorts exactly, even their leadership roll?
