[WM] Stirland (Empire/Bretonnian)
« on: January 06, 2013, 08:42:08 PM »
I thought I’d upload some more pictures taken over Xmas.  Here is my basic (Stirland) Empire force.  They’re designed to also act as proxies for Bretonnians, with Witch Hunter Zealots standing in for peasants.

Characters

Wizards

Monstrous Mount

Halberdiers & Skirmishers

Bowmen

Rangers

Moot Militia

Knights

Pistoliers

“Rough Riders” (proxies for Pistoliers or Squires)

Artillery

Helblasters

Siege Mortars (proxy for a Trebuchet – Old Glory 25mm small mortars)

This army looks brilliant!

Which figures are the moot militia?

Also, as you seems like... an addicted to empire :) I would like to ask you your impression about using skirmishers? they are worth? did they make difference? did you use this type of infantry normally in your empire lists?

@jchaos79,
Many thanks.  The Moot Militia are Eureka Halflings.  Their flag is from a GW Empire pistolier.  There’s one Halfling mixed in with the Rangers (Copplestone) if you want a size comparison.

Regarding Skirmishers, from recent experiences I’m coming round to the idea of using them all the time with Halberdiers.  They give them a fighting chance against other infantry (but not against cavalry).  However, the nagging concern is always that when the unit gets chewed up you lose the extra points.

Thanks to you for posting. I have my rangers in my pipeline of painting, so it is worth the size comparison tip for me.

I have no play with empire for a long time ago, but I have been this xmas thinking about the skirmishers and have in mind some configurations. Maybe I will open a threat in discussion to talk about.

Looks great!  I like the idea of using Mortars as a trebuchet proxy.  That would work in my mind for Bretonnians.

@Stormwind,
Many thanks.  I found the mortars while browsing around the Old Glory website and thought I'd give them a go.  I've got some spare which are earmarked for a Nuln project.
