So, what are the plans (are there plans)?
Phase 1 - Float the idea, and see if there's enough potential interest.
Phase 2 - Sculpt some initial releases
Phase 3 - If the initial releases sell well, expand the range.
The sculpts would be generic in order to avoid IP transgression issues.
For initial releases, I was thinking that (if enough people show interest) I could afford to have 3 moulds made to test the waters:
1- Ogre Infantry (armed with giant swords or cudgels like my concept sculpt)
2- Ogre Cavalry (riding on big beasts, perhaps woolly rhinoceroses)
3- Ogre Characters set (a few leader/wizard types, and some banner bearers too)
If the initial range did well, I'd probably look to expand with another 5 moulds:
- Ogres carrying large guns or cannons
- Armoured Ogres
- Large cannon or catapult dragged by a woolly rhino
- Woolly Mammoth ridden by an Ogre
- Goblin-type allies
I'd probably look to put them on sale through my
Abomination Webstore.
As to prices, I'd guess at something like the following for the initial range:
Ogre Infantry - 24 Ogres - £12
Ogre Cavalry - 12 Ogres riding woolly Rhinos - £12
Ogre Character Set - 12 Ogre Characters - £8
I might be able to do bases too, though that'd push the price up by about 15p per base (so about £1.20 for the Ogre Infantry set, and £0.60 for the Ogre Cavalry and Character sets).
How do those prices sound?
How about my idea for the initial 3 moulds?
Would bases be necessary?
How big of an army would people be interested in collecting?
Any other thoughts or suggestions?
Remember suggestions must be generic and have an independent IP - no models/designs that are unique to GW IP (or indeed any IP) could appear in the range.
