[WM] Maestre Wargames Scenery review (Pic heavy)
« on: August 15, 2012, 06:02:42 PM »
I have a fair bit of 10mm scenery from home made to forge world.
All of it is very serviceable.
To that point I do not normally look at new suppliers, but I have been pointed towards http://maestrewargames.comule.com
Now their offerings look very good and at a reasonable price.

So with that in mind I contacted them in regards reviewing some the models.
They arrived today.
A nice collection from across their ranges.

I know people will be saying but you can make these yourself, but it can be a lot of hassle and take time that some of us just don't have.

Anyway on with the review.
I have reviewed stuff in the past on other forums and blogs and just because I get samples does not mean I give good reviews.
Some of the stuff I have had the misfortune to review has been of an incredibly poor nature.
Not so with these.

The models are made of a solid resin and had no flash or overcast that needed trimming.
I will be washing them (always do with resin) but compared to the Forgeworld stuff which took a great deal of cleaning these are brilliant in that regard.
The details are very will defined and intricate even down to the cracks on the plaster walls.
My favourite is the wooden shack but would be happy with all of their range (more outlay then :().

These are a superior product to the FW houses. Those might be slightly more detailed but are a pain to prep and have too much detail that require too long to paint. You could paint an entire tables worth of these in a good sitting. The other plus point is that these are readily available and competitively priced, FW stuff goes for a small fortune on eBay

They also sent me some ruins, again these are a lot better alternative to the BOTFA ruins and you could make a very nice ruined village for your table with minimal effort and cost.

In conclusion, these are a welcome addition to the 10mm scenery scene.
Great product, cheap prices and fast delivery, what more do you want?
Give them a look and if you order anything, tell them I sent ya ;)

Here are a few pics.
Will try to get them painted ASAP.

Thanks for the heads up. I like their wooden, eastern front range. Very suitable for kislev/frontiersmen range for warmaster!

Hurrah!

Thanks for showing us them "as is", I really want to get some of these, as well as some 10mm trees for forests.  So when I finally finish 2 armies I won't be looking over a bare table!

Thank you very much for your review. I'm always interested if someone is scouting terrain.  ;)
But could you plz post a picture with WM models on it too so we see the scale?
