[WM] Return to Warmaster; Starting a new army: Tomb Kings
« on: August 14, 2012, 05:19:14 AM »
So, after being away from Warmaster for nine years, I've decided to get back into it.

Lex and some others may remember me from the GT and campaign day circuit in the spring time of Warmaster, 2000 to 2003.  (I'm James Hughes, Wayne Rozier's American side-kick, and the guy with the High Elves unusually painted in black, red, and bronze)

Without further ado, here are a couple pics of my initial efforts, a pair of skeleton regiments:

More pics on my blog:  http://ivansheroes.blogspot.com/2012/08/warmaster-tomb-kings_7.html

EDIT: Are these pics too big?  I can see about changing them, if so.

Neat!  So are your High Elves the noble defenders of Naggaroth?  Where did that wolf / dog model come from?

The revears are great!

So you should be part of the Golden ages of Warmaster, wow men.

I suppose the wolf is from goblin chariots.

Looking forward to see more pics from those days and eager to see your new armies!

Ivan,

Glad to have you back!  I like the Tomb kings and the Elves!

Can you tell us anything about the terrain in the pictures?

What state are you in?

Ed

I really like the skeletons (they are one of my favorite units). Could you tell us how you painted the shields and the bones?

Really liking the blog! The pyramid terrain is excellent!

What made you get back into the game?

Thanks for the many encouraging responses!

I base coated the skeletons black, then dry-brushed all over with a couple shades similar to Bleached Bone.  The blue was simple: just a wash with the old fliptop version of GW's blue ink.  I believe Coat d'Arms in the UK still sells the same stuff.

The pyramids and giant head are aquarium ornaments by a company called Zanusa.  I got them on eBay for under $7 each.  They come prepainted as shown.  The pyramids do have some air bubble casting flaws, but nothing too serious.

I'm located in Austin, Texas, if anyone happens to be around there!

The elves aren't really meant to be Dark Elves, just my own take on High Elves.  And most of them are brighter looking  than the Reavers because of all the bronze armor!

And yes, the wolf is from the Goblin Chariot, well spotted!

I recently got some display cabinets, and put my Elves in them.  Seeing the troops on parade, as it were, brought all the old enthusiasm back; hence this new project.

Whoops sorry, not Naggaroth I meant Nagarythe!  The elves of Nagarythe (home of the shadow warriors) still have black as their colour in the Warhammer fluff.
