SoB Fleet
« on: August 06, 2012, 11:35:46 AM »
Hi all

I think I'll try to make IN/Sisters of Battle fleet. Is there any GW rules for Inquisition and the black ships?

The FAQ2010 has a full fleet list along with intersting additions.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

There's also the BFG:R Rules on google docs, there is a section for an inquisition fleet with black ships, cruisers and such.

Any advice on "must have" ships for 1000 -1500 pts?

build an IN fleet
add an Inquisition Black battleship of cruiser as your focal point, both as a custom model and as your command ship
it would be more flufly this way as well

That's the case - I only painted my SM fleet and have NO idea what models I need for IN fleet.
I have very little experience in BFG and none with IN

the core of IN are its cruisers, and build them in twos
carriers: 2 dictators. these carriers are not launch and strike from afar, these or for upclose strikes within 20-40cm
all around cruisers: 2 lunars. these have a mix of batteries, lances, and torpedoes
complements: dominator/tyrant + gothic. dominator/tyrant are battery gunships (the actual number of attack dice will vary based on circumstances). gothic is a lance gunship, always hit on a 4+ but only 4 dice max.
four-6 cruisers would be a great core.

build 1-2 escort squadrons to either increase the strength of your cruiser build, or to cover its deficit.

and take one battleship. the emperor (battle carrier) is popular, the retribution (battery gunship) has followers, the apocalypse (lance gunship) is decent.
in your case take the Inquisition Blackship battleship.
a battleship rarely make a difference in winning or losing and i consider them a personality addition for flavor and character.

Falchion Class Escort - I don't get what are they main role in fleet? ( I like models but cant see them fitting to any list)

also what small markers (like fighters and bombers) you would advice to have for 1500 2000 pts.

Launch bays: 4-8 per 1000pts

Falcions are anti fighter escorts. A fighter must engage enemy torpedoes in base to base.  So one torpedo can neutralize fighters on combat air patrol, escorting bomber waves, on flying around threatening your bombers

Well in the Armageddon fleet list your only options for IN escorts are Falchions and Firestorms. They sort of fill the role of both Swords and Cobras although as previously stated i usually see them used in small numbers to clear torps/ fighters. They can still bring an impressive amount of weapons to bear too tho and work well at taking on other escorts/ crips/ etc. The only real downfall to them is that they are limited to one fleet list or as reserves which with even the smallest useful squadron size would require nine escorts from the main list your using and with all the other lists you have access to the more specialised Swords and Cobras which tend to be the more popular option.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

Both, neither, the basic IN have the Gothic, Armageddon, Bastion, and Bakka fleet lists. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses, I would take a look at each of these lists and see which ships most interest you. Of course you can always bring one or two from other fleet lists than your main one using the reserve rules if you find something you like from one list but want to use another for the bulk of your fleet.
