Those are awesome!

I just got some high elves myself, but I have enough empire to paint I won't be getting to them anytime soon.  Just curious, did you use a white primer or black primer for these?

I know in two old GW painting articles I've read, they both recommend black primer for high elves in warmaster.  I guess for scaled armor?  You don't recommend it though?

What I've found in 10mm is that metal over a white surface followed by a black wash leads to a surprisingly good looking result very quickly.

The thing is that when I look over the WM models, they are so insanely detailed, most of them, and with SO MANY nooks and crannies... What I end up doing is spending a lot of time making sure I can see no bare metal.

I'm not sure that a black wash would be enough to rid me of the fear of having unpainted bits peeking out. =P

I did my trolls by basing them white and then give it all a wash of nuln oil. Brings up all the little details and that helps a lot with seeing all the little cool details ^_^

Sure, for fleshy stuff that definitely works!  But for heavy armoured characters like the Silver Helms, with LOTS of stark lines between inorganic colours like bridles, shoulder pads, gloves, cloth, tabbards, it's harder in my experience to go down that route.

Remember that I am a quite inexperienced, conservative painter and it takes a lot to make me break out of my habits and try something new. ^.^

Finally!

Painting multiple units paid off.  I worked on my 3rd and 4th Silver Helm units for my High Elves at the same time, and now they look fab!

Looking good.

Thank you all for your kind words!

Stalled a bit on the Elves so trying to turn my engine over with smaller projects.  Just finished these scenery / objective markers.
