Thanks, all!

Photo doesn't show it very well, but this is the first spearmen strip I've done.

I would not have painted the border of the base of the same colour, it seems a little bit too blue... But the painting job is very nice.

Personally, I like the blue bases.  The edges might look better in a darker blue, but I don't think it matters very much.

Been tidying up some warmaster stuff - I made a larger Sally 4th box to put my dragons and other giant command stand type bits in, and finally polished off these terrain templates.

I now have 7 wood templates for the cenral board, and also two corners and two side woods pieces.  My ideal will be to do a very heavily wooded board with roads going through it, as is shown in the Warmaster rulebook scenario The Flight of Countess Heugenloewd (p86).  That needs about 16 wood pieces.

I'd like to be able to make such a heavily wooded table for Lustrian or Wood Elf based battles, too.

I use Vallejo Pumice which comes in different colours > white, grey, earth brown, black, desert sand etc.

I started using grey but then you have to paint it black and colour it.  Now I use black and go brown over it.

You can sprinkle sand or little slate chippings on top of it as it's wet so give it texture for when it dries.

I bought from the art shop some cheap synthetic paint brushes and a big tube of black paint and one of brown, both acrylic.  Those are your base colours and I sloppily drybrush it grey in patches then paler brown over the rest, sometimes after a wash of Army Painty tone ink.

I have some desert WIP ones but they haven't turned out brilliantly so right now they are buried in a big box until I can work up the energy to redo a desert board.

Finally added more to the High Elves!

These are one of the more intense things I've painted.  Bright colours on prissy elf units are less forgiving of mistakes!
