Mr Grey's Plog
« on: May 15, 2012, 11:35:58 PM »
Hello just had an awsome thought when I got my first BFG model today a tombship which was to make a plog. first up is as I said a tumbship after that... I might tackel some warmaster slayers while I wait for my sythes. A few notes though I have a new camera and I can't find where the macro button is so some of the pics may be blurry, hopefully my sister could help but that would be on sunday. My painting is very.... poor and this is my first plog or blog of any type so be nice ;). Right of we go.

Well kinda, I've seen some plogs with mascots so here's mine.

Right the model in packaging

Flash gone, cleaned and filed

Antennae done

The entire model ready for a undercoat :)

I'm gonna end here today so night

Managed to finish the model so here goes.

The undercoat

Boltgun, chainmail, gold and highlights

And finaly a dip.

When I did the dip I was kinda bumbed the find and other dipped projects and models looked so much better that this ship... I'm gonna chalk it up to my first time usinging it and it maybe a bit to thick.... anyone?

And on another note anyone got any names sutable for a necron ship.. I'm thinking that they could be named by the empire insted of the crew and captain.

Did you paint the shading on or literally dip it?

The bigger pictures are definitely better.

I think the model turned out very well.

My friend named his ships by numbering them in binary, but then he is a physics geek (no offense intended to him). You could look at the new Necron codex and name them according to the new fluff, or you could name them from an Imperial perspective (e.g. Terror of the Calaxis sector).

Various BFG and other gaming articles that I've written can be found (and downloaded for free) on my website, www.danleeonline.com. Enjoy.

Indeed bianry is a human language necrons may have a more complex or just diferent way of sending information( in my case I am a tecnic geek :P)

I like your paintjob a lot simple and practical ;) I would use some green to male it more ghostly(in necron style)

Well I stopped being lazy and managed to get a strip of slayers done.... I don't think I have the hand of dipping yet so any help would be grand.

Were you not tempted to paint the bases first, then do the slayers after?  Did you use the same quick shade stuff?

Yea that probably be the best way of doing it lol, i had a bit of a hard time doing the base... but to be honest I was testing bright colours woth the stong tone. Anyway I got my escorts though the post the other day, I decided to stick to bright colours so I cut dwarf bronze and boltgun so the models should be brighter when they are dipped.

Also somthing that is quite cool I didn't wait long to spray my tombship after I 'dipped' it but I did get this really cool looking cracks in the paint work It looks like they were painted on and looks really really cool I've tried to get pics but they keep coming up blurred so i can't really show you your gonna have to take my word for it.

EDIT: Managed to get a close up of the cracks and to be honest it doesn't lok good in this image but I manged to get a close up.

And a fleet shot so far.. without antishine on the escorts but as I said on the tombship.

Very nice ships Mr. Grey, Necron ships are uncommon within my game group. I like your paint scheme!

And cuttie dog! ;)
