Fleet feedback
« on: April 18, 2012, 03:04:10 AM »
First of all this is a friendly campaign, I'm bending a escort rule.
Soul Drinker crusade fleet before the novels vs Tau
1 Battle Barge 535 master o fleet/ terminators/ honor guard
3 Strike Cruisers 170 +1 shield/ HG /-launch bay + bomb cannon
4 Strike Cruisers 170 +1 shield/ HG
6 Falchions 240
1 Cobra 35
Thoughts?

Well in a campaign list you don't take MotF the honor guards would be ok with me tho. I would probably work with your group to make a campaign renown chart for space marines, since there's not one that I can find in the standard rules, that incorporates the termies.

Fleet wise this all sounds ok although I'd drop the cobra and falchons in favor of hunters, if it's a matter of these being the models you have then so be it there's nothing really wrong with the falchons. So that leaves you with a bb 7 cruisers and 6 escorts with 135 points to spend id say another 3 swords maybe.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

From what I can tell, you won't be able to use Terminators and Honor Guard in the same turn. I could be reading it wrong.

What I am think of doing and would recommend you consider is to have 2 SCs drop their side wbs and give them 2 more launch capacity. You could hold these two back behind the other SCs and use their bombardment cannon when the time comes. An extra 4 thunderhawks is awesome. I don't really like the regular SC formation, actually. I would rather have the redundancy of all guns or the redundancy of as many thunderhawks as I can get.

I did pick the Falchions due to having the models.
I don't see where it says honor guard and the termies cannot be used in the same turn. I guess it could be a either/ or situation.
Also where did you get the extra LB Strike Cruisers? House rules? I can't find a carrier configured SC. I had made some models that would be perfect for that role.

My mistake. The Strike cruiser variant I am talking about is in BFG:R only. Strike Cruisers in BFG:R start with only 1 Thunderhawk, the second is replaced by a second shield. There is an option to drop the side wbs for a Thunderhawk on each side equaling 3 total.

I do believe The honor guard and terminator boarding party can both be used. The ruleing on each reads that they are in addition to the standard teleport attack and neither says they may not be used with the other.

I think there was some wording that threw me off but, upon rereading it, I think you can use both.

Agreed. I understand that they are there as you own the models but the FW ones are a great deal $, look great, and IMO are worth the slight points costs over the others. I'd be remiss if I didn't state that some small mods on them and you can call them a different hunter variant :)
As we Imperials say, "The Emperor [class battleship] Protects..."

Well, i have modded the hell out of them. They have Strike Cruiser parts on them, maybe i will continue with my modeling and make them look more like the Hunter class.
