[WM] Buildings
« on: February 27, 2012, 03:12:25 PM »
Hi All,

I'm looking for some resin or paper buildings for WM and ECW/TYW..

I've found some stuff, but was wondering if anybody had some better sources.

Thanks!

Apart from the old oop forgeworld stuff, you might try Timecast - they do an amazing range of 10mm builings. Their Napoleonic German range is suitable for "Empire" style buildings.

Very difficult to find 10mm buildings. The odd one comes up on ebay now and again.

I got some of mine from kallistra.co.uk , those are gatehouses and towers, not town buildings

Here's the two i have from kallistra http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/rr279/waylander2/warmasterbuilding002.jpg

Go paper, there is loads and loads of paper buildings to be found on Internet. Start, for example, on Brumbears site. He has some  great models specificly done for warmaster. Use a slightly thicker paper then normal and you will have cheap, nicelooking scenery that will also lasts a long time.

Do you prefere to base your scenery......  create a nice base and the ruins of the building you want to have on it, dimensioned slightly smaller then the paper model, and just slip the "non ruined"  version over it ......  this is also VERY handy when you want troops to be within the footprint of a building.

And did I mention that most of the stuff made available commercialy for 25/28 mm is easily tranmorhped into Warmaster usable scale by any decent printer ??

These are easy, great, and free. I also got 10mm scale roads from Toschach Miniatures for a few bucks.

Together:

With stand for scale:

Oh, they're printed on cardstock, 80lb/162gsm from memory.

It's worth reading through some of the step by steps on the site if you've not done papercraft before. I couldn't figure out the octagonal roofs to begin with, and there are a couple other good tips, too.

Paperterrain's are great, but they send out printouts of a single building, instead of selling the rights to the file. I'd pounce at their stuff as digital copies, especially at those prices, but they don't interest me as hard copies. If I want to buy single buildings I'll go resin or plastic, not paper. Just my personal view. Papercraft is good at making lots of copies on the cheap. Paperterrain.com negates that benefit.

I purchased a heap of paper buildings designed by Dave Graffam.  They are 28mm scale but can easily scaled down to 10mm and saved as a word document and then printed out.

The really good thing about the designs is that you can change the textures and add or take away bits and pieces which means there are quite a few options from the one building!  Some designs are complex when scaled down to 10mm but generally, they turn out really good.  I'll try to get a couple of pics of the houses I've done so far.

Those are great, Big Red, I'd not seen them before. A good find if you're willing to use them enough to let them pay for themselves.
