corvettes
« on: September 21, 2011, 09:32:54 PM »
I got inspired from a post a week or so ago mentioning corvettes and having played through all of the homeworld games I was intrigued as to how they would work in BFG. This is my attempt at some house rules for them. comments concerns ect let me have it  ;D

I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

I too share a deep love for homeworld, and GW killing the BFG homeworld mod, a fusion of two amazing things, made me sell my 40k army :)

Don't call them mantas [;)] but this idea actually has promise.  I dig it.  I'm not sure about having to deploy them from launch bays, as even if it were a fourth the size of a destroyer, its still too large for a bay I believe.  But if there was still a limit based on parent ships that would work, you could say the limit per bay thing still applies as they hitch on to the outside of carrier ships, but I would just limit them, if they need a limit, to a certain amount per point size or capital ship number.

I quite like the idea.

I'd like to add the question on if a vessel's shields of that size can withstand starship grade weapons.  Perhaps simply giving it ordnance rules, so things need 6s to destroy them, but they have the option to BFI, which ordnance to not.

I have considered the impailer rule set and im working on a second draft with that in mind. I am also looking at droping the light/heavy, lance, and missle varients as these are... escorts.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

Indeed, I would keep it very simple with only one weapon system.  An impaler would actually be an awesome corvette, if such rules existed.

Aren't the "System Ships" supposed to be corvette sized? Because they get their firepower ratings and shield rating because they have multiple vessels on each stand.
