Problem with the Rogue Trader Fleet List
« on: September 04, 2011, 11:10:04 PM »
The problem I have is that if I want some major firepower in my rogue trader fleet, in the form of a battleship, I have to totally max out the number of cruisers. Am allowed. So I would have to take 9 Rogue Trader Cruisers (minimum 990pts if using Endurance Light Cruisers) that would allow me to take 3 allied cruisers which In turn would allow my allied battleship. I think that seems a bit excessive if for example I want to include a Tau Explorer Class Battleship in my fleet. It also means that it's very unlikely I'd be able to field a battleship in a game of less than 2000pts.  :(

Just go with the first Rogue Trader list and not the exploration list.

The only problem then is that I can't take transports  :P

Hi,

from the fleet list:

Quote
A single squadron of 2-6 Rogue Trader escorts and auxiliary vessels may accompany each Rogue Trader capital ship in a fleet, in any mix desired.
Separately, it may also be accompanied by any number of cargo ships of any type (whether or not the scenario requires transports), organized in squadrons of 2-6 ships, but these squadrons can only contain cargo ships and always count against their full cost against the total points in the fleet.
Xenos vessels cannot be used in fleets that include Space Marine ships.

To me this says that per Rogue Trader capital ship you can take one escort squadron between 2-6 ships. On top of that ("Separately") you may add cargo transports or alike  (in squadrons of 2-6) to the fleet.
Thus these do not count towards the limit of one squadron per rogue trader vessel.

Okay that sounds good. I hope that means I can include armed freighters, escort carriers and cargo transports.

I'm thinking of having rogue traders as part of a Tau fleet, meaning I can have an explorer and/or hero  to add more firepower/ordnance.
