New to BFG, Building 1000pt Chaos list
« on: June 04, 2011, 01:48:59 PM »
Hi all, it is wonderful i found this site, so much use full BFG information. I am new to BFG, recently introduced by my roomate who has sparked the game up again in his gaming club. He generally plays as Imperial Navy and Space Marines so his knowledge of Chaos is limited. Thing is he is holding a small tourny of sorts locally in a couple of weeks and i wanted to participate. I would just like some advice on possible 1000pt lists for Chaos.

I have a sizable fleet to chose from in terms of models including
1x Planet Killer (cant use this as it's considered OP, i could use it but i'd be shunned)
1x Despoiler
1X Desolator
2x Repulsive Grand Cruisers
1x Styx
4x Slaughter
4x Carnage
2x Acherons
2x Hades
6x Iconos
6X Idolators

I tend to favour Carnages in large pt battles but this is the first time i'll be assembling a fleet of 1000pt so i want to get ideas of possible fleets and tactics i can use with this limitation.

Any advice would be greatly apreciated

Edit: using staight Chaos rules or 13th Black Crusade

Hmm i thought about that however that would make for a very up close fleet, where as the rule of thumb for chaos is long range bombardment style. The only way i could see that setup working is if the slaughters were all Daemon ships.
also just checked it, with that list it goes over 1000pts when adding the warmaster, have to have a warmaster at least.

Daemonships are useless, don't even bother. But the list comes to exactly 1000 pts. 4 x 165 = 660 + 1 x 260 = 920 + 50 (Ld 8 WM) = 970 + 30 (MoT) = 1000 pts.

I see what you mean, i was looking at the warmaster 100pts, didnt realise there was a warmaster at 50pts. As i said extremly new have only played a few games, my roommate is teaching me.

We're having a game later tonight to trial this list
1xDespoiler w/Chaos Warmaster
3xSlaughters

This gives both Carrier, up close gunnage and Lance capabilities. It's worth trying the 4x slaughters 1x styx as well now i know it can be done, thanks for the info.

Thanks guys, i've tried out my one with the despoiler, worked out well against Orcs. the 2 carnages got taken out but i won the scenario points wise.

The 4x slaughter 1xstyx i havnt had a chance to test yet as my roommate is busy with work, hoping to try that out tomorrow.
