Warmaster Medieval and Bretonnians
« on: April 18, 2011, 10:22:52 PM »
I have decided that my next incomplete project will be Warmaster Bretonnians as I have the idea that such an army can be dual purpose:  WM and WMedA  Is this folly?

For those of you with the supplement, could Bretonnians combined with Copplestone and TB Line complete the army lists present in WMedA?

What are your thoughts on WMedA?  Could it be used to do Westeros?

In my opinion bretonian minis and coppelstone fits very well. I do not have TB miniatures but looks awesome. Could not help you in this matter.

I have an incomplete project to make a crusader army for WMM and reuse to bretonian... so I do not think is a folly idea at all.

What is a westeros?

My thoughs of WMM are really positives. I only play with early renaissance lists, like french ordenance, italian condotta etc... in a sort of battles in Italian wars mood, recreating historical battles (pavia, marignano, fornova and bicoca) and the modifications of WMM gives a new aspect that follow the mood of mediaeval in a amazing way. Very recommendable.

I do not advice to slip the rules to the fantasy setting, but use them for medieval battles. The miniatures of brettonian could be used in both types of games

Monseigner JChaos,

Thank you kindly for you reply, I was beginning to despair.

I will likely be selling some of my oodles of other GW models and purchasing 1.5k of straight Bretonnian models.  I will then add in Copplestone and TB Line.

I will be painting them as an army of Westeros, (Game of Thrones) I'm thinking some retainers of House  Tyrell.  And using a HYW List from WMedA.

Lex, have you seen the new HBO series?  Just sitting down to watch it now.

Not like we haven't heard that before... I do hope it happens before some unfortunate consequence of life happens to the aging bard scribing the tale a la Jordan.

It was actually surprisingly good, I was convinced it would be a let down, and was impressed by both the cast and script/writing.  Not perfect, but damnably good.

I'll need a Night's Watch contingent, which means I ought to do a Northern Army.  Sigh!

I had been following casting, and I was very happy with most choices made, always hard to match visualizations from reading with actual actors.

My Bretonians have included a Nightwatch contingent from day one......

Doing an army of the north should be doable! with some of the new (no gw) mini´s available nowadays.

The "others"  might be a tad harder, but everyone always loves a zombie style horde   8)

I have recently written up lists for the major houses using Warmaster Medieval i can forward them to you if you like? Basically i used the 100 Years War  and WOTR lists with a few minor tweeks. Wildling and Iron Island armies were based on Ancient Celts and Dark Ages Danish respectively and Dothraki as Mongols with less bows.
