FFG = Licensed by GW.
Everything FFG produces under the GW license is approved by GW.
It even has the official 40k logo on the cover.
FFG is like canon like a codex is.

chaos CL's are short and ugly (like WFB dwarves!) and should be disregarded in every respect simply because of this.

with the exception of twilight imperium III (and expansion) FFG is lame.

False.
Cool customer service. Cool contact with the players. Cool products overall. Quality.

Okay, first of all... calm the fuck down everyone

Second, this is Fantasy Flight games, NOT gamesworshop.

This is Rogue Trader, NOT Battlefleet gothic

So, the end result is.... Shut up and deal with the rules or house rule your ships

Um, Zel, GW has stated that anything FFG produces is just as canon as anything they, Forgeworld, or BL produce.  Which is, amusingly enough, all equally canon according to GW.  *begin hair pulling contradictions mode*

Further, and I may be wrong on this, I seem to remember someone named Andy Chambers writing chunks of this book.  I hear he may have written some other 40k spaceship game too.

Though there are some new fluff inconsistencies between what we read in BFK and what we read in FAQ2010.  The Voss trio are described as being, new, and super rare (BFC has none, BFK has a single Defiant because BFC didn't know what to do with it) as far away as the Calixys sector, which is significantly closer to Armageddon then Bakka.  And this is going on half a century AFTER the first Tyrannic war.

There are a couple other alterations and odd choices (the grand cruisers all being different hulls with non-removable parts rather then a single entry).

On FFG: their production values are fairly high, but at times I feel writing quality suffers a bit.

Yes, Andy Chambers did a lot of work on the FFG product Battlefleet Koronus (BFK). In regards to rules (eg launch bays) and background.

Problem with Voss is that Armada already had them.  New is that sector. ;)

CG: I know. Repulsive is different anyway. Excorcist / Avenger could be modular but alas.

I'm seriously considering picking up a book just to look it over. My gaming group has a Traveller Campaign but I have no interest in that... old stuff... though it's a classic..

Meh.  So's a lot of peoples.  It's not like the old days where there was just one author.  Now we credit everyone from the editor to the guy that swept up the crumbs.

God knows my most recent woodpulp abomination has gone through so many editors I scarcely recognize it...

Just doing my job.  Gotta keep these egos in check.  Stephen King used to be a great guy.  Then his name got bigger then the book title and he was too good to go boozing with the rest of us authors.
