posting... what a silly verb. its called 'mailing'.

n/m. hope jervis likes it (not that we're on a first name basis). we all (and HA) worked very hard on this stuff and I hope it gets approved.

?

Posting a disc

makes more sense then

Mailing a disc

Disc as in Compact Disc I assume.
Mailing Compact Discs is weird.

Mailing pdf's is what has been done.
Posting pdf's would be weird.

never underestimate my brain's capability to choose odd verbage and weird grammar relative to the length of time I've been awake. I'm in the US, so typically I would say mailing a disc, yet for some reason I flipped into saying posting a disc :)

I'm wondering if it's being held up due to some of the minor fluff inconsistencies between it and BFK?  Or something equally petty.

As a Brit, I'd associate "posting" with the act of sending a physical object via a postal courier.
"Mailing" is more immediately associated with email.

"Disk" and "Disc" originally meant the same thing, being an object of cylindrical profile where the diameter is much greater than the thickness. In modern usage, "disc" tends to refer to optical storage devices such as CDs, DVDs and Blu Rays, whilst "disk" tends to be used for magnetic or solid-state storage mediums. Either way, I would find it slightly weird to "mail a disc/k". Either word is acceptable for other objects.

For most American's I know it's:
"Mailing" for sending direct objects.
"E-mailing" for, well, email. And,
"Posting" for Facebook and other social forums.

Gotta love language..

I normally make a distinction between sending a physical object through the postal system and and sending one with another carrier.  If it goes through the United States Postal Service then I mailed it.  If I send it UPS or FedEx then I shipped it.  I think this is a normal distinction to make in the States but maybe I'm crazy.
