Commerce protection fleet - Demiurg query
« on: February 23, 2011, 02:14:43 PM »
I'm just checking this is right:

Bastion, smaller flight base, 8 hits.
Citadel, large flight base, 6 hits.

Is that right??

Also some help for a beginer to the game; what is the best upgrade out of the 6 for the Xenos escorts please?

Cheers

Is no-one able to confirm that the Citadel as per the HA latest tau commerce protection fleet rules is supposed to be on a large flight base, or if I have infact miss-read the box on that page?

Cheers.

You are indeed correct. Since there will never be an official model for the 'Citadel' this is the easiest way to represent them.
If I played Demiurg however, I would probably swap the bases - small for Citadel und large for Bastion.
As long as your opponent can easily distinguish between the two classes there shouldn't be a problem.

Right so the base size is really just to differentiate between the two ships then?, so if I were to convert the Citadels to be obviously smaller and different to the Bastions, would it be ok to put them both on smaller bases?, I mean as a newb is there is a tactical difference to being on a bigger base isn't there?

Cheers for the reply.

There are also rules about what base size you have to have things on. If a ship has more than 10 hits and/or three shields, it MUST be on a large base. Any ship can elect to use a large flying base though even if it isn't required by the rules.

A larger base makes a bigger target for Nova cannons, and it works both ways for boarding and ramming.

This is true, more blasts are good, especially now they can double the range of the beam.

However I'd still prefer to put the bigger ships on the bigger base (e.g it makes a LOT more sense to me to put the Bastions not the citadels onto a bigger ship, simply because they have more hits).

I just can't get my head around a 6 hit ship on a large base....

Cheers for all comments guys.

Brute Ram ships included in that bit? I was thinking it makes WAY more sense to have the Brutes with bigger bases and the Grunts with smaller ones.
