miniatures storage

Hi,

I have open this topic to ask you how do you storagte your minis. In plastic rigid boxes? or in cardboar boxes? or do you use an special way or trick to optimeze the space.

I would like to store my minis in separated plastic boxes by armies, but the true is that my armies are always made a mess in some boxes of differents sizes. what a mess :o. I have found that shirts boxes fit well with the tall of the miniatures, but the are not rigid enough and I do not dare to full fill it with metal models. I only store in one of them the BOFA plastic miniatures. Shoe boxes fit well, and I used it, but consume a lot of space and are quite tall. I have the top the wardrop full of them. :-\

So maybe someone of you, (the one who play with 4k amies specially) could give some ideas for the storage.

I use box files.
They are A4  in area and 4cm in height.
I either get them from work or buy them from the local stationers.

These hold approximately 2k of troops dependant on the army in question.
I have then modified my storage cupboard to hold 8 of these boxes per shelf.

Just moving over to steel baking pans with lids.  And magnetic paper on the bases.

I use various options, but the ones below are from a hardware (DIY) store. The Dwarf one hold 2000+ Dwarfs and actualy is the case that traveled with me on my trip to Mephis and Vancouver some years ago ! (which means part of it held paint and brushes and other stuff at the time.
