I'm really enjoying seeing these come together - it's looks like a lot of blood, sweat and tears fiddling with the needles but the results speak for themselves!

Only the Silver Helms got attention this week (the Reavers might have to wait as I'm planning on working on some terrain for HAVOC as well). I finished up their manes and started in on the silver touch-up and wash.

I'm planning on working on the other strip tonight (and going back an hitting the feet that I forgot on the first) and then carefully drybrushing them silver one more time for a highlight. Then we move on to the white.

I finished up the putty work on my commander too. You can't tell from the picture but he now has eyes and the eagle on his helmet looks more like a dragon now. You'll just have to trust me :P. Since they're pretty much Silver Helms I'm going to be playing catch up with these guys so I can finish them up at the same time. The banner bearer was drying silver while this picture was taken.

These are sweet!
Are you thinking of selling any? ;)
I had a go at something similar a few years ago on my brand new laserjet.
Bought the special paper and everything, only for it to melt the fuser unit :(
So after wangling a replacement, never tried it again.

Selling the decals or the models? I can put the files I used up online somewhere if people are interested. Not planning on selling the models, no. I'm having a time finishing my own army, let alone someone elses.

I bet it was ink jet paper in the laser printer that caused it to melt.

Yeah, those decals are stunning - I'm deathly afraid of trying such a thing.  Is it only laser printers who have the precision to create decals of that quality?

If so that's my trusty 4 year old Canon Pixmar out of the picture. :-X

I tried ink jet before i tried laser. The ink cracked like crazy. Atleast the laser only cracks near where I cut them out.

I would sooooooo buy a lot of the decals.

It's probably the main reason why I haven't started my High Elves - all those shields that need to be painted with a similar pattern for each different unit!

Drop me a PM if you decide to do it.

The white was all done on the Silver Helms until I took this picture, then I noticed they have some cloth around the base of their tails like the chariot horses do, that's going to have to be white too.

I should be able to take care of that next week and start in on the red. I'm still not sure what my second decal is going to be for these guys though.

I also did a little bit of work on the command, they're still lagging behind the rest though.

Looking good!

Have you considered using a stencil or rubber stamp for the shield designs?

Thanks guys. I haven't consider a rubber stamp roth, it might work on a white shield but I don't think it would work on red ones.

I started in on the red this week, this part is going to take awhile. There's all sorts of minor things that are going to end up red and with a lot of them being near the white I'm taking my time as to not make more work for myself.

Hopefully it should be done by next week, then I cam get to the leather, hair and touchup.

Hrrm, those command don't look like they're on pennies - are they on washers or MDF counters maybe?

1" washers. I'm assuming my opponents will begrudge me the extra 0.2mm when measuring from the base over the legal 25mm round command base.

There is no official size of command bases. Neither shape, could be round, rectangular or octogonal if you want. Just choose a point (the point of the sword, the banner or the geometrical center, it is up to you) in the base and make all measurements from this point. So do not worry about the 0.2mm

The latest PDF has a section on Odd Size Character Bases on page 63. That's what I was going by.
