That's what I was talking about! Great conversions! I already like it a whole way better than the GW DE range.
I haven't got my hand on those DE plastic kits yet but as soon as do I try to make some gothic ships.

I have to ask pat, would you mind posting a how-to of your conversions?

I am very interested to make some cheap and better looking DE cruisers.

Any ideas for other ships?  Ill eat it up!

Edit:

Also, do you think there is any potential in the old bikes and bits from the OOP range?

I have embarked on a new quest for conversion greatness.

The sails on the reavers and ravagers are perfect for solar sails on Craftworld Eldar ships, specifically, they are large enough for a Craftworld if dome correctly.  I need to figure out the base material for construction, but I think it will work out magnificently

Rules? I want to make it, just to make it.  If someone were dumb enough to face it I would say "bang, your dead".  No one survives fights against craftworlds. Entire segmentum battlefleets vanish when trying to attack.

There are some firestorm armada ships that, when combined with some solar sails, look perfect for eldar ships.  Add some spikes and voila, DE ships too!  Just have a look on their website and you'll see what I mean.

Ya, splinter fleet at that.  Craftworlds are formidable, but not more than a heavily defended world.  Their power is secrecy.

If you remember, an entire segmentum battlefleet attacked a craftworld.. and vanished.

Craftworlds vary in size and strength, the bigger they are, the more stupidly powerful they are. There was even a warp rift with the rules for a craft world, which had 20 hits, turrets, holofields, and a nova cannon :P

Again, I somehow doubt that the second most advanced race in the game would use 'just' secrecy to defend their homes, I expect that they are blistering with enough weapons to cheerfully demolish invading fleets, not to mention their defense fleets and corsair allies.

Oh I dont doubt they arent bristling with weapons.  But its not a true warship.  Much of it is given over to recreational stuff, as described in fluff.
Artsy Eldar stuff and eco-domes and the like.  Absolutely it would have weapons, sure.  But I think the real power is the fleet of Eldar ships protecting it.  A splinter fleet isn't a hive fleet, although its still quite a threat, and did manage to cripple one of the largest craftworlds in existence.

I don't know what fluff you are getting it from, but if 'Segmentum fleet' was really mentioned, I can't really believe that.  Maybe subsector?
All of Battlefleet Gothic was just a portion of a Segmentum fleet.

over the holidays ive put together my own DE fleet, using 1 box of reavers, 2 of hellions and a handful of older jetbike spikes. will post pics when i can, but im happy with the result. the escorts are simply the hellion boards with the rider backs stuck on the front like a double cockpit (anyone remember the toad fighters in bucky o hare?)

2 of my cruisers have been done like the OP's, and as i had a few spares the last i did the right side up with the top half of a hellion slotted into the 'seat'. needless to say they are all exceptionally spiky, and ive gone for a very 'tron' colour scheme - black with orange neon stripes along the edges.

the general principle of the cruisers is to build the jetbike as normal, but stick the front hull on upside down, so that the undercarriage vent forms a bridge/launch bay of some kind, and the seat is tucked underneath (i covered it up with classice reaver spikes, which have a convenient hole for the flight stand)

as i say i hope to get pics soon, until then you will have to imaginate it.

PS. the firestorm armada pirate fleet is perfectly suited for DE if you like the squarier look of the ships, for a similar price to the plastics kitbash.

Sorry been busy over the Holidays and kicking off a new 40K Campaign for the group here in Denver.  I'm working on a 2nd one that is slightly larger.  Going to try escot next month. Will post some WIP picture soon and as far as a How to, I'll see what I can come up with, but mainly I just took the model bitz and started creating > no real plan
