New Dark Eldar - conversions for BFG?
« on: October 09, 2010, 03:58:04 PM »
Although I don't play Dark Eldar in 40k i was realy interested in models just to stand in for the awful IMO gothic DE ships.
Here are some quick shops of a whole range of possibilities that awaits when those will hit the shelves. What do you guys think?

Good photoshops. we approve.

Two notes:

1) I do like the BFG DE vessels
2) I kinda dislike 90% of the new Dark Eldar range

I must completely disagree ;). I think they're out there with the kroot "paperweight" sphere.
And I do like the 90% of the new DE range, it's the 10% of weird stuff that worries me :)

lol,
The Kroot sphere is mighty cool. It is the prize that puts me off.

Of course it's cool...as a paperweight that is ;D. No really please it looks like something that was cool in a concept and maby if FW went and do it the model would look great but in it's actual form it's a joke. Especially when you try to keep it on it's tiny little plastic rod ;D.

Well...i don't know :) i just played with a thought of using those new DE for BFG. those should be cruiser sized vessels so i'm still i na need of an escort.

You mean the Hellions disc? i think they might be a little to big but we wouldn't know until we see those models. Actually the one in the upper left corner is photoshopped from new hellions board pic. the rest is made from jetnikes.

Those look very spiffy. I was thinking of starting a dark eldar fleet, but was a little disappointed with the lack of variety in the current model range. Maybe with the new DE bits and some old ship bits I can finally build a worthy fleet \o/

Very, very nice! The official DE fleet was right up there with the first attempt at tyranids (the newer tyranid fleet is much, much better).

Your photoshop work looks fantastic. Close enough to other Eldar that they look like they come from the same race, but different enough that you know they're a very different kind of fleet.

Considering how few cruisers are actually in a fleet, I was actually planning to buy a pack of 3 jetbikes and converting them to replace my cruisers.

The escorts are the real problem when it comes to making... they are both numerous and expensive.

One of the player ay our monthly BFG meeting had just purchaced a box of the DE bike, and ofcourse we compared the sprues to the DE ships we had there and the scale is just about perfect for a cruiser size ship

Can we maybe use the spikey bits on the infantry sprues?
