Work on the orbital ring colony continues. These colonies are constructed in orbit of worlds that are to be terraformed. The worker drones live most of their lives within the inner structure of the ring itself, whilst the elites get to live a luxurious life on inner surface of the ring.

These rings have a diameter of about 50 kilometers, the last two pictures will show you the true vastness of this structure. That tiny ship trying to enter the ring is a 750 meter long Light Cruiser I've designed for Vanguard Miniatures. Plan for now is that the final model will most likely have a diameter of around 80-100mm.

I won't be printing out a 50km model of course, the final diameter will most likely be around 100mm. But it will still be a kick ass model!

In the meantime...

I've been digging through my archives a bit and found these two 'scrapyard raider' ships. These designs are almost a decade old! Despite their age, I do feel they might have some potential and I'm very tempted to redevelop them.

How big would you imagine these models to be?

Somewhere between lightcruiser and escort. So panthera size more or less would suit the bits sticking out of it I'd say...

Really like those. Great idea...

I've designed these ships almost a decade ago and I remember posting them here as well. Lately I've been very tempted to revisit these designs...
