[WM] Viability/playability of WE
« on: July 14, 2020, 12:31:36 PM »
Given that the WE now have a huge availability of models I was wondering how they played?

They were my first Warhammer army and although not kind to tactical errors I had some success with them. They could be frustrating to play against though as you never wanted to engage in combat until late in the game as a general rule. Warmaster is a different kettle of fish, particularly when it comes to shooting, but given that the archers are your mainstay I would imagine going for tactics which weren't horrendously dissimilar to WH. Get your archers close enough and into woods and then get a many shots as you can into one area, then run away.

I guess this presents a tactical challenge for the opposing player and is the main differentiator of the WE but is it fun to play?

I've got a WE WM army, just haven't played them yet.

I've only played chaos and Grimgors so far. Have got 2 daemon armies and an empire army that haven't seen action yet so the current Vampire Counts project is likely to be my last.

I always intended to make my own list.  As Dark Elves are modified High Elves - I would take those lists as the starting point.  The existing list I think would be too frustrating for an opponent!
