Thank you for the replies.
Sorry for the delay. I was quite busy over the last weeks. Sadly I didn’t have much time for everything hobby related. My three Infidel Class Raider are still waiting for their paint. Maybe I can finish them tomorrow.
As there were some questions about the 3d printing … I printed everything with an “Ultimaker 2†FDM home 3d printer. The ships are printed in parts and glued together, similar to the original models. The Cobras consist of 4 parts the Chaos Devastation Class Cruiser of 22 parts for example. The bases are from GW but starting with the Chaos Cruisers I printed new stems too, because the original stems were too fragile.
As for the quality… With the current generation of FDM home 3d printers you won’t get the quality of injection molded stuff, especially when printing small parts. And you won’t get the perfectly smooth surfaces of plastic miniatures. The scale of the BFG ships pretty much marks the boundaries of the possible and I had to make some compromises here and there. Nevertheless I am pretty satisfied how the prints turned out so far.

Yes, I checked out Battlegroup Helios. Looks interesting. I wish they would expand their product line a little bit. For now I stick to the basic BFG stuff.
Edit:
So, I finally managed to add the Infidel Raider to the Chaos fleet. The starting 500 points are done. We also tested the ships in battle today. I can tell you, even a 500 points battle can take a whole lot of time… especially if you have to look up the rules every two minutes. Man, I didn’t expect how many questions occur once you start playing. By the way, my Imperials lost. Everything looked good until my opponent landed some lucky shots on my Dictator and turned it into a lifeless floating hull. From there on my ships where easy prey for his bombers and assault boats.
