The very first Eldar fleet encountered by the Imperial Navy
« on: October 05, 2015, 11:06:55 AM »
Well, yes, that is a way to say it. A couple of years ago (2010...) I had a sparkle of inspiration. Why did the Imperium call the Corsair Eldar ships after old Terra grown flowers like the Nightshade en Hemlock? Only because of their comparable sting? Or perhaps their colouring? With that latter I went and started to repaint my old Corsair models using images of the flowers as an inspiration.

Of course that meant I had to find inspiration for the capital ships as well. A name as Aurora made it easy, Solaris a tad more tricky but Eclipse and Shadow required some thinking on how to paint.
It is something that applied to all models, they were kinda painted outside the "BFG-box"of colouring. Some may like it, others perhaps not. :)

No more ramblings here they come!

Hemlock Destroyer:

Nightshade Destroyer

Aconite Frigate

Hellebore Frigate

Solaris Light Cruiser

Aurora Light Cruiser

Shadow Cruiser

Eclipse Cruiser

Void Stalker Battleship

I really like them individually, my only issue is that they look a bit odd as a fleet.

Thanks all!  :)

@Geep,
Perhaps, but in terms of the 40k background it is most feasible.
Corsair Eldar are Eldar on the path of the outcast. They depart as individuals from their craftworld. Complete fleets at once would be odd, right?
So they leave but band with other outcasts together to have a higher survivability chance in the grimdark universe. But to me it is likely they will keep their own individual traits as livery and colouring.

I agree it's easily explained- Eldar often have odd colour schemes mixed together (look at Aspect Warriors).
