[WM] Dark Cathay
« on: April 19, 2015, 11:09:15 AM »
Recently I’ve been working on a different flavour of imperial army; Cathay.  Decided I wanted a Dark Elf list but the GW models were scarce and expensive on the open market.  Came up with this as an alternative and it gives me a Cathay army as a bonus!  And public thanks to T’s O&Gs at Saffron in March for the idea of using Giant Squigs as proxies for Cold Ones.  Pics below.  File names give intended usage and minis' manufacturers.

Excellent.

Really like the fresh idea and it is a real pleasure to see someone using oriental fantasy eureka figures.

Great work.

Fantastic work!!

looking forward to facing them in battle, or alongside them with my own dark elves, raiding and pillaging :)

the hydra proxy is such a great idea, I can imagine the ripples of flesh regrowing as they're sliced open and then the brute belching out a great gout of flame, such a great idea and model!

Excellent work.

The whole army looks so good, with the colour scheme pulling all the minis together.

It must have been a lot of work searching through the various catalogues to find all the models, and work out how they can be used together.

Do you know what name / product code the the Chinese dragons are in the first photo (I'm assuming they are Reaper).

mlkr, Stormwind, thanks.

jchaos79, thanks.  When I searched, I was surprised that I couldn’t find other examples where these minis had been used.

Janners, in six days your Nippon run-of-luck will end ...

kyussinchains, thanks and, yes, we’ll need to schedule another battle after the coming one.

forbes, thanks.  Once I’d found the Kallistra Koreans it wasn’t too hard to source the other minis.  The dragons are Reaper Oriental Dragons.
